Anyone have experience sequencing midi in reaper?

I've been really out of the loop for a couple years and only stumbled on this daw recently. I'm planning on installing Reaper and giving it a shot but I wanted to hear some praise/ criticism from the crowd here.

I don't use hardware sequencers and I compose primarily in a score/piano roll environment. My biggest complaints with most daws have typically revolved around how midi data is edited. I am really curious about how Reaper handles event automation, midi triggering of hardware and plugins, samples, audio editing, bouncing, freezing, etc... Also curious about how customizable the CPU load is, ie modifiable mix bus interpolation, plugin disabling, etc...

Any input would be appreciated!
