lol no. I sort of went into crisis mode just around this time of the year my senior year and thought the same. I was just turning 18 and flipping out because I thought my life was over, I was getting old, etc. I definitely had a few regrets, I wasn't into drugs or alcohol so much in high school. I smoked pot a couple times, drank a couple times - but I was a really "good" kid and all my friends came from affluent families and were very similar. Sometimes I feel like I missed out on the normal experience of what it means to be a teenager or that my experience was more sheltered - but the normal experience sucks. Being a teenager sucks, in general.


The world beyond high school is much much more fun, interesting, and better all around. And here's a tip, no one gives a shit about highschool, whatever academic regrets you have can be nullified with the help of community college, if they're really that bad. One of my old roommates was finishing up at an ivy league school and I found out that he transferred from the city community college.
I think it's normal to go into crisis mode just before graduation, don't worry about it, whatever "regrets" you have are just things that have shaped you as a human being - if you want to change some aspects of yourself, change them, maintain a 4.0 gpa in college, run marathons, or whatever it is you want to do. People have made much worse decisions and choices but still manage to go on and fix them.

It doesn't. I don't think so..hence the quotation marks I used. I think extreme prohibition in most forms is a no-no and should I ever have kids of my own(eek), I will always preach self-responsibility and moderation. My parents were not the ones telling me drugs were baaaaad, though they have never condoned them or drug use to this day - that was DARE doing the fear-mongering, I was a lucky, lucky kid that grew up with hobbies like horseback riding and scuba diving that my parents fully immersed me in and friends who were similar.

Didn't mean things were perfect or that I was perfect in anyway, I actually had(have) a lot of problems and I skipped school all the time - and I ended up doing dr00gz regardless .

I just lived a very sheltered existence, said my pleases and thankyous, never got in any trouble with figures of authority -  but I was the type of kid adults would look at and be like "oh, that's a good kid."

I could be at a 4 year college and not living with my parents for one. Maybe even have more actual friends.
The point is I would give anything to go back and make better choices. Mainly doing my homework and not being so withdrawn because of my social anxiety.
As far as the painful childhood, I wouldn't change thing I went through, I know the pain has given me the character I have now. The only things I regret are the things I didn't do.

yawn, fix it then. The so called "right path" is a myth, and plan A doesn't work for everyone, it's naive to think that way.  Your lucky that you live in a country that has things like community colleges with genuinely good education opportunities and parents who allow you to live with them until your on your feet.
