I think the competition should work by country and with different dates.

I scrapped all my pereskiopsis, so fuck it. :stonedjerk:

I really need to get some nicer friends.

With the main competition ending sooner than expected; do we end all competitions as originally planned with the first lopho flower or do we allow them to run for longer?

Would be nice to see it run for a bit longer to see what they all grow into. Still can't believe Mostly's lophs are flowering so early.:crazy2::fonz:

3 of the 8 I chose for this have started on buds.
1 stalled a bud, and has since started to put out a second.
The one I have been following with pics has a second on the way.

Sowed 31st October 2012
Germinated (approx) 10th November 2012
Grafted 20th November 2012
Flower opened 17th March 2013
138 days total from sowing seed to opening flower
30mm diameter

Last 2 pics in the montage and frames in the gif are from today, one when the light came on, one after the flower opened.

111 days growth shown.

Again, pics from today, before and after opening

Looks like you've got first place for first loph to flower. Excellent work getting it to flower in just over 100 days. Kind of mind boggling when you think about it.

Somewhere between 3-6 months which would allow us to start another contest relatively soon, but allow those who sowed seed to finish up in this one.

The starting period for another competition should probably be next month since spring is about to start for the Northern Hemisphere. Most members are located in the US so shouldn't conflict as much as starting late Fall.

Maybe start a new flowering competition and combine with the current largest mass competition. Perhaps the new competition could be Fastest to flower ANY Species. Will open the competition to more members since not everyone has access to lophophora seeds. With the formula Mostly_Harmless gave us it should be a tight competition with everyone giving their grafts high K fertilizers.

Thanks

I won't put this one forth for the largest loph mass competition, so get plumping!

Juke, i love that weird thing!  The pups are getting a little bit bigger now, I am interested to see how they look.  The top has a minor amount of lighter green, indicating new growth but its growing slow and strange from the tip.  I have some other freaky looking seedlings that I am either waiting to graft, or waiting for the graft to show growth.  I will keep everyone updated

Mostly only broke the loph flowering competition. (Amazingly, most heartfelt congratulations!) Others should continue, and I vote for an additional Ariocarpus competition, from 1st April or so!!

This is the one on the 4 foot pereskiopsis
105 days from seed

Sown: 10/31/12
Grafted: 11/13/12
Regrafted: 1/26/13
131 days from seed

03/24/13

~4 inches long
The spacing of the areolas has become even more spaced apart and this is in full sun. Due to cold temps recently there has been a slow down in growth rate. Once temps rise again I may attempt adding more pereskiopsis to this trichocereus.

My lopho on the 4 foot pereskiopsis seems to be close to flowering will post a picture when it does.
