Not quite ready to make the LED LEAP?
    #19394551 - 01/09/14 04:44 PM (10 years, 21 days ago)

Test 14:
Do you UV?

What is LIGHT anyways?
We have worried to long about POWER or COLOR
Let it go.
Not all light is the same,
and not all that shimmers is made of GOLD.

"Several health benefit claims such as improved appearance, enhanced mood, and increased vitamin D levels have been attributed to tanning. Furthermore, the Indoor Tanning Association claims that “catching some rays may lengthen your life” [5].

Exposure to sunlight has been linked to improved energy and elevated mood. The belief that people [or peyotes] look better with a tan may partially explain this phenomenon. A report on the tanning attitudes of young adults found that 81% of individuals in 2007 felt that a tan improved appearance, whereas only 58% of individuals in 1968 held the same belief [6]. Individuals with seasonal affective disorder report improved mood status when exposed to sunlight [7] and to frequently tan [8]. Although early studies had suggested that mood elevation was linked to increased endorphin levels [9], subsequent studies have not found such correlation [10–12].

The Indoor Tanning Association claims that a base tan can act as “the body’s natural protection against sunburn” [5]. UV induced tans offer a sun protection factor (SPF) of 3–4 [13,14], but additional changes besides hyperpigmentation, such as epidermal hyperplasia, likely play a role in UV induced photoprotection. While an SPF of 3–4 does protect from sunburn, only approximately 65% of the erythema induced by UV radiation is blocked [15]. Therefore a base tan does not provide adequate protection and appropriate clothing, the proper use of sunscreens, and prudent sun exposure remain essential for sunburn prevention."

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2692214/

Daily your SUN :sun: bombards you with UV.  It is well known that it is possible to damage your EPIDERMIS and our OZONE layer.  The paper also outlines the NEGATIVE effects.  Too much of a good thing,  is still too much.

How effective are PRECIOUS (translated: expensive) LED's at providing this ENERGY?
Quote:

"actually, for white LEDs, it actually depends on how white light is achieved..

some white LED (rare now) use UV light + a phosphor to output white light.. thus, some UV will get out.

most white LEDs use a royal blue LED combined with a phosphor now, though.

colored LED? nope!(well, unless it's a UV LED)"

http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?242978-Do-White-and-Colored-LED-s-output-UV

Don't be an :goat:, give your :peyote: a tan!
I've said it for eons.  Accurate information,
will be widely, and freely accessible... in the new age.

I hope you all have enjoyed my posts, and found at least some of the information new and useful, I know I certainly learned a lot.  My efforts were not fueled by Ego or Greed, I have no blog, endorsements and care for only a meager recognition.  I don't have much money myself, but have never really found the need to have TOO MUCH.  I gladly give away when I have extra of anything and LIFE has always provided for me when I absolutely needed it.  Thank you all for sharing and caring, IT TRUELY IS AN AMAZING COMMUNITY AND TIME.

Amen to that.  I actually had a corporate job earlier in my life and had the chance to make a crazy salary in a few years time but I walked away from that position.  I shit you not I started getting health problems from that kind of environment because of stress and how draining it is on the soul.  After I left the problems all cleared up.  I barely scrape by these days but I am so much happier and healthier.

Artist: http://thijmetermaat.com/originals/merrily.html

I know the pieces fit cause I watched them fall away
Mildewed and smoldering, fundamental differing,
Pure intention juxtaposed will set two lovers souls in motion
Disintegrating as it goes testing our communication
The light that fueled our fire then has burned a hole between us so
We cannot see to reach an end crippling our communication.

I know the pieces fit cause I watched them tumble down
No fault, none to blame it doesn't mean I don't desire
To point the finger, blame the other, watch the temple topple over
To bring the pieces back together, rediscover communication

The poetry that comes from the squaring off between,
And the circling is worth it
Finding beauty in the dissonance

There was a time that the pieces fit, but I watched them fall away
Mildewed and smoldering, strangled by our coveting
I've done the math enough to know the dangers of our second guessing
Doomed to crumble unless we grow, and strengthen our communication

Cold silence has a tendency to atrophy any sense of compassion

Between supposed lovers
Between supposed brothers

And I know the pieces fit

I guess some LED plant lights probably do include UV LEDs in the mix. IIRC UV does something beneficial to MJ plants (stimulates trichome production maybe?) and a lot of plant lighting is intended for them.

My wife has this UV light thing for doing nails. I guess it would need to be pretty strong to make the chemicals cure. It produces some visible purplish light as well and even that is bright as fuck.

:lolsy:  Anne is like a living breathing Rube-Goldberg machine.  Spend thousands of dollars on equipment to accomplish what could be done for free with the sun, or at best $100 worth of lights.  Your peres look no different than hers and in my opinion, perhaps slightly better.  Sorry annie, but throwing a bucket of water on the peres before snapping a pic does not make them look any better.

Wait a minute..if you're using a hydro grow, why is there even any water above the roots to begin with?  Honest question.

This reminds me of the few corporate jobs I have held...I never stayed long enough, but I just knew for some reason that I shouldn't be there.
It was destroying my well being, it was a Michaels craft store. Jeeeeperrrs.
I wanted to destroy every new shipment box before i opened it. SO MUCH WASTE.

As for LED. I've visited certain shops with example set ups of led lights and plants. And they always seemed to be doing an EXTRA good job to me.

On the other hand, I had a friend using an led to grow some herb....and his grow never looked to optimal. In his defense, it was only ONE led light.
Maybe he needed a more powerful one? I don't know, I'm keeping the good old hardware store lights for now.

I don't think the UV needs to be that strong at all to cure the polish.  Understand strong UV is bad and will cause SERIOUS damage.  The polish is probably clear coat?  The UV goes right through and set's it up in no time.  It's the same concept as other UV glues and adhesives.

Your always questioning my research, which I enjoy and feel it contributes to positive and rational discussion.  However, care to do a bit of your own research first, and provide us the facts as you see them?

@ the corporate world.  PaneraBread and I recently parted ways after 3 years, because even when the customers are downright evil and vile bitches to the employees, they are ALWAYS right.  I bet you can guess how that scenario played out :foreheadslap:

Ive said it a few times now if ya... missed it.  Change your mind, change OUR ways.  Safety i numbers if we could just look past personal differences and COME TOGETHER.  There is no longer a reason to be scared or scarred in the...PRESENT
