The name Witchcraft is it really an Arts/Crafts type of thing?

I have wondered where the name Witchcraft came from. It was not a term used in Ancient Egypt, Greece, Sumeria etc. It seems that this name is tied to Christianity and the Witch burnings.

Is Witchcraft really a Craft? To some extent I say yes... To me Craft is something that is passed on and on through generations. An example might be something like Origami, Ornamental Wreaths or making bundles of dried White Sage to banish evil spirits.

Things like potions could also be considered a Craft because they are recipes that are passed down. The only time that it doesn't become a craft, is when someone takes a "trial and error" approach when trying to produce some sort of potion that is very unique.

You only hear about Witchcraft... Things like Wizards or Sorcerers are peoples that are generally placed in the same category as Witchcraft.

What is everyone's overall thought of this? Is Witchcraft still Taboo like it was in old times? Most people have no clue what Witchcraft is, but as soon as I talk about it, they want more and more information about it. In the Middle East it's considered a death sentence if you're caught practicing Witchcraft.

My ex was an expert in Bitchcraft and it was her favorite hobby.
