Honestly I believe we are incapable of withstanding being duped.

For example I loan someone $50 who says they'll pay it back but don't. If I make a fuss then any debt I owe is made a fuss of; hence "forgive us our debts as we forgive them who trespass against us"- easy to say but lots harder to accomplish.

I'm aware of my incapability to withstand coercion in all instances.

Humility for me therefore is recognizing the superior prowess of temptation. I can't win.

Nice post and I completely agree with this tactic.  I think a lot of beginning meditators perhaps think that one ought to forcibly remove thought by trying to get rid of it; I say try to think as much as possible and see what happens.


I would ask frock himself, don't you find this questioning somewhat self destructive? Can't it leave you with little to nothing? I mean that was the position you yourself seemed to be in. Maybe it is part of a process but still why not just get on with ones life and try make something out of it without questioning down every last minute detail?

Something here seems unclarified. What is the nature of this questioning? Any old questioning or self inquiry? For some imo focusing on your neurosis can only magnify it and lead to the very stagnation you look to avoid,  where moving on with life and allowing life to unpick your knots for you can sometimes be the better course...

Maybe the problem with either approach comes from trying to emotionally solve intellectual problems or intellectually solve emotional problems.

I think we advance and ceep advancing

I think it's getting better (like that beatles song)

I think people get more beautfiful - warmer and stronger

say the right thing
try not to be wrong or -(mUcH) too wrong

yeah yihar - it seems like seeing worth
liberation is freeing - liberation spreads - and it doesn't get worse?

Self destructive? In a way. I don't think it leads to suicide, but the destruction of what one believes themselves to be, if anything, yes. Not so much destruction though, more like, no longer knowing that which one thought one knew.

In a way it leaves one with nothing, in another way, it leaves one with everything. It eventually turns one's focus from inward to outward.

If in getting on in one's way, how does one know which direction to take? If we lead ourselves astray, in haste, how can we expect to ever make it as far on a path we could have taken had we not taken the time to think ahead?

Well, I would ask, what is the nature of any questioning? What is nature? What is questioning? What is this? What is What? What is is? What is of?

Might seem like a barrage, and too much to take in at once, but pondering these questions and then questioning the answers one may have can break down things that seem complex or simple and lead one to wonder if they ever had the answers at all.

I don't know about neurosis. I don't think one ought to be ashamed of their thinking. Shame would lead one further from examining it and questioning it, I would think.
