This isn't the forum for you then. The forum allows certain logical fallacies but not others, which bothers me as well, but I like it here better than most places on the net.

The forum allows certain logical fallacies but not others

The only thing we're strict about is ad hominems. The rest of the fallacies are poor form and easy to counter-attack, but they're part of (bad) arguments, so they're fair game.

Ad hominems are different because if we allow them, the debate descends into schoolyard name calling and we already have a forum for that kind of debate. It's called OTD.

Could it be something to do with identity? "I"-pod. Makes you an "I". Subconciously reinforces the "I". I dunno. Rather than "My"-pod, where you simply own something.

Yeah, but a lot of the stuff I see on here is "That's retarded. More words with no substance, and a graemlin." Which isn't ad hominem, but just a real pain to sift through.

He was kind of a kook with all of his mystical beliefs. He was a good example of someone driven by death anxiety IMO. He didn't handle the last days very well.

That you will find people looking to strengthen their beliefs and belittle the beliefs of others as often as you will find people with an actual desire to grow.

And you will find people who think it helpful to encourage piss-poor thinking and superstition.

These same people will embrace tough love in a mythical master, but find it distasteful in actual practice.
