Eating colonized substrate: Non cubensis species.
    #1610885 -

I know a PF cake w/ cubensis is generally considered a very weak source of trip and a waste if not fuited, but what about more potent species (azures, cyans, Pans) on grain?

Psilocybe azurescens mycelia show very strong bluing reaction in the petri dish.

It would be wise to choose a more paletable substrate, probably wheat, rye, or popcorn, maybe cracked corn. I wouldn't try grass or millet.

...and not the substrate to, just the unfruited substrate.

why are there all these people even asking. Its the same thing, about once a week, or less. Prople asking about eating mycelium. Its been PROVEN that the fruits are more potent than mycelium. Why even try it when you could put them in a rubbermaid and grow fruits off them that are 10 times the chemical yeild that you'd even get off 1 cake.

patience is a virtue

This is about Non-cubensis species.

Some of which are 3-7 times more potent than cubensis, and sometimes take a couple years to fruit.

I don't know that this has been mentioned, or tried even once before now.

I'm sure that azure/cyan mycelium is more potent than cube mycelium, but it may not be more potent than the cube fruits. If they are, it'd be cool as hell to just grow a buttload of mycelium out on PDA or any other agar.. Mycelium would be easy to isolate from the substrate..

Anyone know how potent azure/cyan actually is?

Dude, you?re barking up the wrong tree here. BH is a good cultivator, he?s not talking about being impatient, he?s talking about psilocybin content of azure or cyan mycellium as compared to cubensis. You should really read the post, because you?re giving advice that people give in the Mush Cult forum to people who?ve never cultivated before, to someone who has done this:

He has no problems waiting, i do not think.

Partly because it comes up once a week and partly because folks asking about consuming mycelium are directed to teks that confirm the myth. I've tried the acidic juce
method to dissolve mycelium and eating mycelium infested wbs just for kicks and my personal opinion is that the guy who posted the cranberry juice/mycelium tek would probably hallucinate on benedryl. I think that the management here should remove the tek from the archives but maybe I did something wrong in my wishful and impatient experiment. I think that there is great wisdom in the old addage "that good things come to those who wait" but I could be wrong.

my first 3 trips where from spent/unfruited rye cakes, the trips were fine, only down side was shitting out rye seeds the next day...of course these cakes are not as potent as mushrooms, but they do contain psychoactives.. and this may be news to you, but some cakes dont fruit... unlimited amounts of scenarios could result in a beat cake... it seems from your post that ur suggesting to throw the cake away, this is stupid, and if you dont want your cakes send them to me, ill take care of them properly... have you ever considered your failures with magic cranberry juice was your fault? try using a cake that has given you some good flushes, my theory is that the organism accumilates psilocybin as it goes through its flushes.

BH: im sure more potent species of psilocybe would have more potent mycellium, wether it would be worth cultivating the species just for the myc. is more of an opinion. if you do any experiments please post! =)

if i could trip off of potato water, of course. what is wrong with eating the substrate, i mean its sterilized, it contains psilocybin, and its free. do u throw your spent cakes away? thats gross to me.

Back when I got into mushroom growing around 91-92 or so before there were "Teks" or "internet" me and my buddies kept failing at the case run due to contamination/ph/humidity problems (i see this now) but we could grow tons on Rye in quarts no problem so we would add orange juice to a jar and shake, poor out and drink the liquid then we would repeat on the same jar then on another jar.  This would always get us to a level 3 trip.

I really hate when people dont actually try something but instantly become experts at it not working.

I'd be quite interested in trying P. azurenscens mycelium myself, not the substrate (yuk!) just the myc. According to erowid P. azurenscens contains 1.78 psilocybin and 0.38 psilocin compared to cubensis which contains a measly 0.63 psilocybin and 0.60 psilocin.

I'd be very much interested in your findings BH

These are the reported maxima! This means of all the specimens analyzed the ones with the most content are those 2 specimens that show up in the table.

If the reported maximum for Homo sapiens? weight is 850lbs this doesn?t mean that your weight is 850 lbs....

keep in mind these are results from fruitbodies, not myc.
