damn that is a very pretty parrot. and they can learn to "talk" really well? i'd love to get one. but i bet they're pretty damn expensive huh.

Yeah, most parrots are pretty pricey, especially the more intelligent ones. Look into Alex the parrot, he was a particularly amazing specimen.

I'm sure most of the Christian population wouldn't be able to distinguish between its angry thrashing with the uplifting spirit of Lord Jeeeesus giving it a new healed Xtian life and dance around claiming it to be their new ursine messiah.

End result? Less Christians, and we get plenty of new "bear eats people for God" news articles to lulz over. :fonz:

I'm not saying that evidence isn't found eventually to support the theories, but they all pretty much start as an idea that would not have been considered obvious by the establishment of the time.

I understand it doesn't relate perfectly to the idea of god, because no physical evidence has been found to give rise to theories on an existence (and I don't really expect there will be), but I feel it is enough to say that obviousness is not a requirement for existence. Subtle things exist in this universe of ours as well.

well i read about Alex. it was pretty interesting. makes me wonder about just how smart some animals can be.

he was 31 years old when he died. i had no clue they could live that long, and the wiki article said the average lifespan is 50. with that amount of time i think it's pretty plausible that he gained the intelligence of a five year old. hmm interesting stuff.

Dude, some parrots can live to around 80 years..at least one has lived past 100. They are very intelligent..I had a very intimate connection with the parrot in my avatar/sig, he was like a little deformed human. :grin:

Yes, I had him from 7th to 12th grade. Poid, my username here, was actually his name.

He was able to whistle "La Cucaracha". :grin:

Yeah, he was a cool bird..I'm planning on getting another soon, though. If I can find a cheap African Grey, I'm definitely getting one! :awesome:
