Are we the Gods of our planet?
    #14833703 -

I was watching ants go about their business the other day and was wondering what they might be thinking about us, if they think about us at all.  Ants are very intelligent creatures, seemingly very aware of their environment and surroundings.. they must have thoughts about these giant beings that sometimes unleash their wrath upon their anthills

Are we the Gods of our planet?  Do creatures of the animal kingdom envy us and our power/freedom?

I don't know if animals "envy" us, but I would call us Gods, sure.  I think its all relative really.  I'm sure there are many other beings out in the universe that are much more aware and powerful than us, even perhaps planets and stars themselves, as I believe they are each "alive" and aware as well, "Gods" or "angels" to us depending on your usage of the words.

Thoughts?

I'm beginning to think reality is one big game to a much greater conscious; being a part of that conscious would make us gods. To me there are an infinite amount of possibilities as to what we truly are, when the time is right I'm sure we will figure it out.

I always enjoyed the question, "if a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it still make a sound?" that being said... Was there ever even a tree there to begin with.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us all. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

Animals are not aware of their own awareness. They are computer programs slowly progressing through the trials of nature. This is instinct, and many humans have this "instinct" thing in them as well. All is God. All is one, one is all.

Strongly disagree. If anything they probably experience just the same as we do. Just that they do not have a running internal narrative in their mind commenting on everything they sense.

I say this because if you just reverse things, we are computer programs ourselves slowly progressing through the trials of nature. Human thinking is inherently exceedingly predictable, we're all cut from the same mould.

Gods of our planet? Gods of our planet?????
More like a cancer of Mother Earth!! Who are the ones polluting all the seas? cutting down the forests? waging and fighting wars for profit and using weapons tipped with radioactive depleted uranium which contaminates land, and waters and air and causes cancers and massive damage to DNA of all life, and has utterly irresponsibly 'tested' nuclear bombs all over causing terrible deformity to humans and other species, and actually purposivley dropped nuclaer bombs on cities full of humans and other life forms which is bad enough, but they didn't even NEED to, that is how fukin evil they are!!!
Who torture millions of animals every day in the name of science, and also are fracking and posining the very underground waters of life which is the staple of life of for ALL living beings and planet Earth.

So 'God'..?? That is like the cream on the shit cake ins't it. That they do all this and support it and dont challenge it, and many are not even aware of it, and then think themselves Gods!

well I didn't say we were very good Gods

you keep referring to humans as "they", why don't you take some responsibility you cancerous human you!

anyways, i agree with almost everything you said.  I'm not proud of our species, just as I'm not very proud of my country.  But I still have faith in America, and in humanity as well.  Awareness like you said is the key.  The more people that become aware of these issues, the better chance we stand at survival.  If 2012 blows over as the bunch of hype that it is, we will probably enter into the age of enlightenment considering the growth and expansion of the internet.  After that, perhaps the age of peace.  It ain't over yet..  While we may be the cancer of this planet, we are also the cure!

I didn't drop that bomb. I dont do dropping bombs so why should I take that guilt on myself? I am dead against it. I want it to stop. it is so fukin insane it doesn't bear thinking about. THEIR myths guilt us--this is very important to dig--their religious myths say we are born in original sin and are sinners bla bla. they then follow this with their secular Dawrin myth which makes out we are  aggressive animals, and then machines. So it is very important to understand they want to demoralize our sense of ourselves. So I say stand up and tell it that you dont want this shit and your seeing thru their toxic myths, and wont define myself thru them. I admit that some poeple support war even though they may not take part in them. well then they shou;d wake up

As for 2012--it is childish to just depend on something happening that date that goona sort everything. it is more like a catalysy. a wake up call new end/beginning where we HAVE to get real. who is gonna get real unless you do?

We are gods of the whole fucking universe. At least, we could be if we start funding scientific research and development.

If you understand, you can control.

No, I do not think we are God's of our planet.
Some other form of alien entity intelligence probably has domain over this planet.
We are just part of their zoo collection.

Personally, I believe that we are very much like the ants, completely unaware for the most part what is really happening on this planet and/or universe.
The ants don't really see us, nor understand our presence, as we don't understand that which is kept hidden from our awareness as well.

Your thoughts are beautiful and introspective.
Many of us wonder about the same things as well.

In a more romantic mythological view, attaining 'god-hood' or becoming a God as opposed to a mere mortal can be seen as the realization of the fruit-of-the-garden western alchemical mushroom initiation motif.  Its always interested me...  The snake in the garden archetype separating the common man from Gnosis...  Becoming 'One of Us' and what not.:sherlock:

To ask if we are the Gods of our planet, as compared to ants or other creatures, seem to be only even possible as a question if you forget the fact that our world requires all of these other species to exist as we know it.  If every insect on the planet died, we'd be collosally fucked.  Microscopic things like bacteria, we'd be REALLY fucked then because the bacteria in us help us out big time with certain things.  Obviously, no trees, we're doomed, etc etc.

I think if you thing about it like that, and realized how helpless we'd be as humans without these other things, it's clear we are not Gods.  At least not Gods ABOVE other species.  Maybe some people think all living things on the planet is a God of some sort but I don't envision any sort of God being so reliant on other things to survive.

Or at least not being so completely reliant on other things and showing them damn near no gratitude for the role they play in our survival.

There are more people imprisoned for the commission of drug offenses in the United States - close to 500,000 - than are incarcerated in England, France, Germany, and Japan for all crimes combined.  Examined in another way, the United States has 100,000 more people incarcerated for nonviolent drug offenses than all the countries of the European Union combined, despite the fact that the European Union has 100 million more citizens. :crankey:

some say that our understanding of our place in the world stems from the bible and its idea that man is somehow better or in a dominate position in respect to nature. this of course untrue. we are apart of nature and so, cannot be better than it. i believe its this kind of thinking that has directly resulted in our current position in relation to the environment and resource management. i suggest you educate yourself about your place in the world and think critically about common sense understandings of humanity.

Great way to sum that up. I would have to agree that that kind of thinking has led us into our current situation. It makes me chuckle when I think about humans always placing themselves on top of the pecking order, we really aren't that special no matter how much we want to be.

How are we not special? Do you not notice the vast differences between us and every other species known to exist?
(I'll give you a hint.. the others don't build space ships)

IMO..
We are the dominant force of nature(or will be in the future), because we are the most capable living(or non-living) things on this planet. We have the ability to set the world aflame with ideas generated in our minds.. nothing else in the known universe has the potential to do this, except other technological species. IMO, this potential makes us into extremely important groupings of particles... of course, we must realize this potential for it to have extreme importance.

I don't think this makes us better than nature, for we are nature.

And IMO.. nature is god.
