Better?

Well, if by better, you mean easier access to fast, cheap, unhealthy foods, then no, ancient civilazations pale in comparison to America!

But if you're speaking in terms of spiritual understanding, of course, there are past civilizations which were quite obviously far ahead of where we are now. Speaking in terms of our society as a whole of course. There are some individuals today who no doubt possess a great deal of understanding, comparable to that of the individuals from ancient civs such as Mu, Atlantis and the ancient Mayans. But when you look at our government, and our capitalist/elitist society today, the answer is clear.

At least to me anyways

yeah, i take issue with those who come out and say stuff like, "oh no.... all cultures are good... it's all relative. you can't judge another culture.. it can't be worse than yours, just different"... bollocks.

this may be an oversimplified question. I think there are both universal and relative cultural values.

are some cultures better than others? or not?

it depends on the standard that you judge by, you can say that "better" means richer and more technologically advanced, but I would judge a culture by the happiness of its people.

I think the amount of "spiritually advanced" people in different cultures has remained the same throughout history. The only difference is that sometimes the leaders aren't these spiritual people and sometimes they are. When they are, I don't think that the majority of the population can relate to them. If the ancient egyptians had TV there would be just as many tv watchers back then as there are now. That's what I think anyway.

First of you have to define what you mean by culture. Do you mean religion, race, ethnicity, all of the above? How do you define culture and I can define wheather or not its absolute or relative.

I agree with this.

Modern Society is kinda far from true spirituality. Modern society just finds more ways to scam people.

Is an elaborate dream?
And if you look at your reflection,
Is it all you want it to be?
