part 5 is when he really gets into it but first 4 parts are valuable also

what i took this to mean is that nietzsche's statement: "god is dead" should in a sense be taken to mean the weakening of humanity's connection to the astral plane or heaven.  And thus, our distance from our imagination.  If you read any of his books, Nietzsche is really practically a fantasy writer, and was very interested in myth.

At the end of the lecture the professor gives a little rant about the better future we could create, and it made me think of how important it is for every human to take responsibility for their imaginations, one way or another.

i didn't watch the video but i recently picked up a copy of Thus Spoke Zarathustra because i was interested in the 'god is dead' quote.

to me the statement meant that people need to overcome their need for a god/heaven in order to be happy and give life meaning. and the reason for that is because it's too late, it's been tried, and it didn't work. god isn't here to decide what is divine or moral or good so the responsibility is now up to us.

our father, god, died. we are now orphans. guess it's time to grow up.

i need to go back and finish the book, exams got in the way.

i've been reading that also.  I get very mixed vibes from it, but it's so worthwhile.  Must have sucked to live in 19th century germany :lol:
