I guess you just have to be able to recognize people that are extremely charismatic, and people who actually have goodwill towards others. There's a difference.

So you have this amazing ability to discern while others don't. OK...

True Scotsman Fallacy much? Who is a real sage and what is the metric other than feeling?

A true sage is one who is completely in the moment, and as such has abandoned their personal existence. They are just pure consciousness. Otherwise known as residing totally in the heart, or being in constant contact with god.  They are totally immersed in the godly principle in our minds, which is the feeling of 'i am.' But where as for most of us this feeling is the seat of the ego, for them it has expanded to include their whole reality.

People are people.

What that means to you is an expression of what you already think about people.

And what you think about people is what it is.

What you think about that ^ is an expression of what you think about your beliefs.

And that is what it is.

And what you think that meant is an expression of what you think about what you think about your beliefs.

Not really replying to you orgone, except to say that you must have a notebook with about 10 names written in it that you drop whenever you encounter a certain flavor of stupid. Like a toolbox of bad examples.

Well, that just is so.  The moment is where it is.  You're lying to yourself if you think otherwise.

Really? I sometimes wonder if there is anyone on the other end when discussing with you.

What is the metric we can all use to recognize a Spiritual Master and (new question to prevent further dodging) will this method prevent future people from being scammed?

Name one Master currently alive.

Forgive me if I'm not swayed by the barrage of Mark Twain quotations.

You can know you're not being scammed because their very presence will be of spiritual benefit. However, if your prime objective is to make sure you're not being scammed, that's the total wrong attitude.  You need to go in with an open mind and heart. I guess that's scary to some people, to open their mind and let another's words have a powerful effect on their psyche, but it's constructive in the end.

Mooji is a living master right now, thanks to watching his videos on youtube I had one of the most profound experiences of my life. But there's also Adyashanti, a lot of Advaita Vendata dudes in England (i'd hesitate to call them masters, but they're pretty good).  Also Ganjaji, and probably a shit ton of yoga masters over in India.

The metric for a spiritual master is, as I said, being absorbed in the Self, which is your being.  It's your true formless nature. The only way to recognize this in another is if you've gained some form of self realization, though probably to a much less extent. The only reason I could recognize the intense peace i see in mooji was from feeling small amounts of that myself in meditation.  But he is literally blissed out all the time.

watch this video it's short.  Adyashanti is funny, he's like zonked on bliss, but what he's saying is so powerful.  And to relate back to the OP, if you realize that what you are is consciousness (and so is everything else), then the idea of reincarnation will start to make quite a bit more sense.

You wish, but it is only Gangaji

The last Mark twain quote
“In religion and politics people's beliefs and convictions are in almost every case gotten at second-hand, and without examination, from authorities who have not themselves examined the questions at issue but have taken them at second-hand from other”

To be lectured on the authenticity of gurus by someone who never even met one...! Geeez.
But now I promise to leave and not bother you again with Mark Twain quotes.

What exactly do you mean.  He says what every two bit holy man says. I watched several and I wasn't impressed by his cosmic holiness.  He was just some dude to me.  I could have dressed up and said that same shit and someone would have called me a holy man.

Living Master?  Just because he says what everyones been saying since buddha?  Who needs to hear it more than once? It's all been said and now it's just reruns as each generation of insecure suckers follows the new enlightened master. Give it a rest.

Well I think it's sad you've projected him as a snake oil salesman.  He doesn't even sell anything necessarily, you have to pay to go to satsang but you can watch his youtube videos for free.  It's just funny that somebody so genuine and happy comes off to you as a phony. I promise you, I've followed some of his teachings and they do work, amazingly in fact.  Do you think i'm just lying to myself or something? And all the other people on these boards who have the same types of experiences?

Try this: meditate for a while and then watch a mooji video as soon as you're done.  Or play a video while meditating.
