you're asking me to prove you project negativity on people, and in that very sentence you project negativity onto people by calling them 'losers,' which is a total projection, you don't know what anybody has won or lost in their life

I do know what a scientific theory is, i'm using it conversationally as an idea i've had, chill out on the jargon.

Explain to me the point of deliberately using language imprecisely.

Can we at least agree on that, that hypothetically reincarnation is physically plausible?

Yes. I agree.

The Tooth Fairy living on Venus is too and for the same reason. But critical thinking and Occam render both without merit.

The reason that's important is that if it's possible, we have to take seriously the claims being made by mystics throughout the millenia

That's an Appeal to Authority, probably the most sophomoric of all the fallacies. The fact that you resort to it is a clear indication that your argument is indefensible.

that's like calling it a selection bias that all physicists accept that black holes exist

There is evidence for black holes.

4) We need a smaller, less-intrusive government.

The major sects of Buddhism exist because of major differences, and the nature of reincarnation/rebirth is part of those differences. Buddhism exists, as opposed to Hinduism because of major differences in their mystic truths, not just reincarnation. So who is right, who is wrong? You can say they all believe something goes on, but the basic disagreements on what exactly that is, throws the whole possibility that someone (anyone) is right into turmoil, because obviously for one side it is just subjective interpretations that satisfy their mind and feelings about the matter. Why not the other side too?

People convince themselves, and not just through rational discourse. The mind cannot know the truth, at best it can only know what works to satisfy it's own goals. When dealing with the mystic, none of it is 'true' as far as we know, though it may sometimes produce desired results in the material world, or it may make sense in that it satisfies other psychological parameters. This can create a profound sense of interaction with the ultimate reality.

Doesn't mean it's true, or makes sense. I have offered several types of rebirth which do make sense. They get discarded because they aren't mystical enough.

why there is reality and patterned, law-like consistency at all, rather than noise or non-reality is not a question physics answers. It's a question physics presupposes an answer to in order to provide other answers.

Okay! But we don't have mystics from many different cultures saying the tooth fairy lives on venus. And plus it's not nearly as intuitively agreeable.

I'm just saying that spirituality is obviously a titanically influential phenomenon, and we should seriously investigate what the people at the heart of it say.  Is that illogical? You've got your head twisted with academic BS if that's how you think.

Ya so did charles manson.  Trust me I know all about cults. And people like that are amazing beings, in a twisted sense.  I guess you just have to be able to recognize people that are extremely charismatic, and people who actually have goodwill towards others. There's a difference.  A real sage will bring peace to your mind and heart just with his words and presence.  Lots of people run from their reaction to people like this because of paranoid ego control.

It's a matter of deeply loving and trusting another person, and then that person will appear as a "sage" to you.

Certainly, some persons are easier to adore and worship than others. But most of their "sainthood" will always reside in you own mind.

Lastly, don't underestimate the power of the crowd acting in some sort of unison. Where this power comes from I don't know, but maybe it's part of our evolutionary past to easily become hypnotized when many people are moving together some how. If you're in the midst of ecstatic worshipers dancing at the feet of their "master", chances are, if you're the least bit susceptible, you'll start dancing and feeling the touch of God yourself.

Well it's that love and trust, combined with what they're saying, how powerful it is in enacting spiritual change.  Sainthood is a very real phenomenon, one who is completely merged in the self. Of course, there's no ego there, so anything you see in a saint is indeed a projection from your own mind.

As far as the crowd, yes there is a sort of collective energy that forms, anybody who's dropped acid at a music festival can tell you that.

You have some very naive ideas about the concept of "sainthood" and persons who are "merged in the self" and have "no ego". And if you don't scrutinize them critically you might end up wasting time, money or worse. They're all just concepts and these concepts have no real empirical meaning. Someone doesn't have an ego? What the hell does that mean? Think about it for a few minutes instead of just swallowing everything from the books.

I've been where you are, and it led to time and money waste!

But - fare well whatever path you take.

I assume actually being around him would be a more intense experience then watching a video of him.  Even just from the video you still catch a vibe.  It makes perfect sense.

Lol what? I don't waste money on spirituality, it's the one thing that costs no money at all.  I watch mooji videos on youtube for free.  And believe me when I say I know exactly what it means to be merged in the self. It's just being here now, in the moment. And staying there.
