It's one thing to simply enjoy a style of life that one enjoys, but it's another thing altogether to refer to another person's choice as "wrong" or to rationalize their behavior as being pathological or resulting from some sort of inadequacy or failing so as to create a sense of superiority or separation as yet another projection of a personal fear or control issue.

You could at least respond to what i said.  I just typed up a whole damn theory there, and you're just gonna call it nonsense.

OK, I'll respond to that.

First, it's not a theory. Where did you study science?

Second, what you said reduces to "what if pink elephants fall from the sky?"

Gravity permeates the universe and connects every atom to every other atom. So does the EM field. For that matter so do the nuclear forces and quark confinement. So what? It makes no sense to state these features of the universe then jump to an unrelated pet conclusion that these things exist, therefore reincarnation.

You stated a physical process, entanglement, then jumped a giant chasm to a completely arbitrary conclusion.

Yes, entanglement might mean immortality, just like the tooth fairy might live in a nice condo on Venus.

But is that likely or reasonable or follow in any sort of rational way? No.

Edit: Oh, and for someone who claims to have "studied physics at college level" I'm a bit surprised you don't know what a theory is.

I do know what a scientific theory is, i'm using it conversationally as an idea i've had, chill out on the jargon. And I wouldn't expect you to be convinced by that theory if you were already skeptical of reincarnation. The whole point is that, if you use your imagination a little bit, you can see how it could be possible.  Can we at least agree on that, that hypothetically reincarnation is physically plausible? It might not be the way i described, in fact it probably isn't, but there are plenty of other hypothetical ways it could work. And mine is a lot more plausible then a pink elephant falling out of the sky, although that'll probably occur at some point.

The reason that's important is that if it's possible, we have to take seriously the claims being made by mystics throughout the millenia that the soul takes on many different bodies.  It's not a selection bias that all spiritual masters agree on this, that's like calling it a selection bias that all physicists accept that black holes exist.

Also, there is a common misunderstanding that reincarnation is a form of immortality.  As your personality does die, in just about any sense of the word you are not immortal, the person you are is a very mortal being.

I meditated 30 minutes twice a day for 10 years and studied under Yogananda's direct disciple, Swami Kriyanda.

Can I now levitate and read minds and auras? Can I talk to angelic realms and astral travel? Can I peer beyond death?

No, but I can think critically.

But then again, I am not a 'true' meditator and studied under the 'wrong' Master.

Dude i don't know why you meditated so intensely and failed to experience cool stuff.  That's cool you studied under Kriyananda though.

The thing is with meditation some people are going to go right into it and see great results and some are going to have to work way harder.  Because we are all at different stages of evolution, a process that goes beyond this life.

Well it's all subjective. You don't wanna go crazy with imagination, but for the simples purpose of thinking how reincarnation could be possible in the material world, it's a great tool. I realize by saying things like that I open myself up to ridicule, I couldn't argue this in a college class the professor would fuck me up, but that doesn't mean my position isn't valid.

There is no evidence that your position is valid and that's much more to the point. This is a debate forum buddy have you forgotten that this isn't your precious mystery forum where any kind of gibberish is considered plausible?

Ya I know, I like that people here aren't into spiritual ideas, that's why I post here.

What exactly do you need for something to constitute evidence? There's a shitload of experiential evidence for reincarnation. There's the evidence that all great spiritual traditions accept it (even the esoteric schools of christianity). And there's the huge personal evidence you get from a spiritual awakening experience.  And then on top of that, you can see how it might be possible.  That's where the imagination comes in.

The imagination is useful for gaining understanding of the unknown. Imagination creates the possibilities you then use your logic and reasoning to analyze what you have imagined. What else could be used but imagination when discovering what you do not already understand.

Sure and then you would use reasoning and logic to say that makes no fucking sense.

Any evidence that can be demonstrated and/or experienced by people at large would be worthwhile.

What you call evidence is basically worthless considering the human propensity for lying, fantasizing, misinterpreting personal experience  and hubris.

Okay fair enough.  But I get a strong sense that many people making these claims are coming from an honest place.  That might seem flimsy but you have to trust some figure, just like you trust the opinions of scientists and other academics. Some people have simply decided that the scientists are not the ones who have the final say on the nature of reality.
