Yes it is; if one has memories of "past lives", there's no way to prove that those memories aren't just random imaginings; there's no way to challenge the theory of reincarnation.

just that science in its current form can neither confirm nor deny its validity.  If we had the science and minds to peer beyond death, then we could confirm or deny the theory.

That's exactly why it's unfalsifiable, we cannot "peer beyond death". It is impossible.

I don't think buddhism is wrong, just the way they word it makes it sound like there is no continuous soul. Buddhism is actually quite concerned with semantic accuracy so sometimes things get presented in a different light. But there are lots of descriptions out there of recalling past life memories, so I figure there probably is some discrete entity that goes on.

From what I've read, Buddhism precisely denies the existence of a discrete entity or unchanging soul; it isn't merely a matter of semantics.

Ya they do explicitly deny it. But then at the same time Buddhism has lots of info on, say, how many lives you will live until you reach enlightenment.  So while technically they say there is no unchanging soul, obviously they acknowledge as does hinduism that there is some sort of entity that's reincarnating, only it's always changing and it's never one thing.  But they say that same process is happening moment to moment all the time anyways.

Yeah I've read up on it a bit and still don't understand it.  There's "no self"...but there is still some kind of duality even so.

Was that for me?  It's interesting, but still doesn't explain the seemingly conflicting ideas in buddhism of no-self and a self.

Maybe your true self gets reincarnated over and over and it's the egos that change.  Maybe with more karma your true-self can better control it's ego each time eventually getting to nirvana.

Or maybe it's a bunch of crazy ass fairy tales.

That's one of those thing that would take me having a past life review moment like Buddha had under the bodhi tree.  The burden of proof is so staggeringly high.

A living thing, by definition, cannot "peer beyond death" while alive, because to be alive means to not be dead, and in order to peer beyond death, one needs to be dead.

What exactly do you mean by "peer beyond death" anyways?

Why do you have to be dead to peer beyond death? If science started to think in more of a "consciousness" paradigm, then maybe it could start to answer questions like that.  If the universe is made of consciousness then we could isolate something that constitutes your personal energy and track it after death.  Highly speculative yes, but that's just because science is nowhere in that vicinity of thought right now.

you totally do. Like the power of concentration. That in and of itself it completely life altering.  You've obviously never tried it seriously.

I'm not going to answer that question again, especially since you failed to define what you mean by "peer beyond death" after I asked you to.

Scientists concern themselves with phenomenon that can be testable--no unfalsifiable phenomenon is testable, and that's why scientists are hardly concerned with reincarnation.

meditating and not gaining powers of concentration is like lifting weights and never getting bigger muscles.  It doesn't matter how much you say you've done it, it obviously wasn't that successful if you didn't see results.  You really have to work at it like anything else.

science has no methods for delving into these questions. Come up with a method and I assure you someone will do the work.

You'd probably need yogi-scientists.  Omg that's what I wanna be when i grow up.

There you go with the shifting target. You have changed your claim mid-stream and then added the no True Scotsman fallacy. Fail and fail again.

If you lift weights you WILL gain muscle even if your technique is not the best. Meditation will give anyone gains in concentration to some extent. But what does increased concentration have to do with  reincarnation?
