    #13183570 -

then why are we naturally social?

There is not just one society. There are different forms of society. Depending on the socializing different societies manifest. Perhaps the unnaturalness is not the society but the kind of society?

A person develops likes and dislikes. From this actions appear. These actions become habits and eventually form the character of the individual. The individuals associate with each other and from that social rules and behavior is determined. Social rules are the basic premises upon which society is based.

I think if any deviation from natural order is found then it derives from the way likes and dislikes are developed in ourselves.

For example, liking of artificiality because it provides short-run gratification and instant happiness may be one of the causes of unnatural behavior in society.

Or are we talking different things?

It's not unnatural at all. The question would be imo, is any given culture or society a healthy one for the members?

I assume 'face the fact' was running around your head somewhere?

Anyway i think this is answered by Ahimsa:
There is not just one society. There are different forms of society.

In that yeh animals have social hierarchies n stuff but theyre not nearly as diverse as ours...

but healthy is such an ambiguous word in the 'mental' sense. And that is the really the focus of here.

Societies shape how we think about the world. Are societies mentally unhealthy or unnatural then? Surely mental health correlates with a 'natural worldview'...? (whatever that means )

Im not entirely sure...

I guess maybe the question is can a human have a 'natural' relation to the world?

Healthy in the sense that it optimizes happiness and internal comfort and body relaxation. If you look at all the cultures of the world including the so called primitive ones you will notice some work better than others to realize these goals.

How would you ever know that unless you are one of them?

well maybe i am :naughty:...

but thats not the point. the point is that any behavior that makes one 'happy, comfortable and relaxed' does not necessarily mean its natural behavior...

so either there is no such thing as natural human behavior (in which case anything goes and its all good)

or there is and...?

Don't be to sure. Human stasis is based in having a relaxed body and mind. What many call making happy is instead, imo, trying to placate compulsive/irrational anxieties which are often unconscious.

While all human behavior can be considered natural some are more conducive to long term survival of the individual and the species.

Society is based upon sociality and structure of society whether small or big comprimises of several different things...both human and animal kingdom. It is mostly based on a form of heirarchy that there is always finna be a top leader and there is always finna be animals/people below the top leader
