ramblings of a madman; on nothing
    #12162809 -

maybe there never was or could be nothing, other than in relation to something, and so there couldnt be the absence of nothing without the existence of nothing and something.

it seems to me that opposites can not be seperated so the opposite of absolute absence would be absolute presence. to ask how everything came from absolute absence is to assume at some point there was an absolute absence. but if there was why was it there where did it come from?

i think this is called the infinite regression argument. I also think that it can be resolved by turning the infinite regression into an explaination rather than a paradox.

If we say somethings opposite is its cause and something came from nothing where did nothing come from? something, and where did both something and nothing come from? the absence of something and nothing, and where did that come from? something and nothing, and where did that come from, the absence of something and nothing. and where did that come from? the absence of the absence of something and nothing and where did that come from? the absence of something and nothing etc etc etc.

Questions like these have ceased to hold my interest after a few thousand years.

What I'm saying is I don't need an explanation that explains "nothing".

ha yeah i just think about it sometimes in order to establish that existence is a relationship with two inseperable poles similar to magnetism in that way.

i like this

reminds me of a part of the tao te ching about form and space

how form can make an object but space is what gives it a use

nothing by its definition is not existent, which is important to remember
seems like a lot of people inadvertently start to assume it's a thing

our perception of nothingness is a thing, and thus not nothingness
so since all we have is perception, i don't think nothingness is truly relevant

unless all perception ceases and then... yeah - but who would know?
i guess by being nothing, and knowing nothing - that would be self realization?

it's a problem to determine what is, though

what appears to be is only an appearance

yes, another problem is that there is no substance behind all the appearances
