Yes, I understand I have never met you, and probably havent even read any of your posts, but nonetheless, I dislike you.

yes, i understand that you believe this type of behavior is:
a) counter productive
b) waste of time, energy and emotion
c) harshing your mellow
d) negative for no reason

why do you feel a certain way towards my dislike of you? I doubt that you truly feel indifferent or nothing about that statement unless you think i am kidding or prodding. so for you people, lets just agree that i really do not like you and that it is for absolutely no reason at all.
mainly, the reason i dont like you, is because i dont like you enough to even waste energy on finding a reason, but i am positive that one exists.

I just dont like you at all. I have zero affinity for you. loathe and despise are not a good description of it... because that would take actually getting to know you... but a gentle, almost courteous, disliking of you is all that i hold.

Yet if you start with dislike you'll bias the situation towards the negative. I prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt rather than judging them from the start as 'to be disliked'.

On the other hand. If we disliked each other from the start we would protect ourself against possible animosity. To dislike from the start would mean to me to protect my integrity. If i dislike you then i don't open up my feelings our thoughts. It would be a protective measure.

Also your dislike is a lesson in patience to me. But that's because i believe in love... :peace:


right... im not doubting or invalidating your theory of PLUR, but my point was that by taking the same giant leaps of correlation one could say:

to dislike is to create conflict, and conflict create competition, and in competition we better ourselves.

while I do in fact dislike many of you , my real point for this thread was to illustrate peoples reaction and absurd notions when someone makes it clear that they do not like you.
Sure, you could say, why waste that energy.... but by that same logic it would take just as much energy to dislike someone as it would to like someone, IMO. I dislike many, many people, often times for nothing.

In the first 10 posts we had someone analyzing me based on my post, two people got defensive and verbally retaliated (not so PLUR there), one person handled it in a passive aggressive way, and another decided to try reverse psychology.

just the simple act of letting someone know that you dislike them, even on something so anonymous and surreal as an internet forum, evoked a myriad of emotion.
why is affinity considered normal, and default? why is it viewed that it is easier to like, than dislike? why is disliking someone considered negative?
why is there something wrong with me, IYO, if I dont like you?

You think to much is all. Once you start thinking about peoples actions it's easy to dislike almost everyone. I'm guessing you also dislike yourself. No problems on my end. :thumbup:

I honestly never understood that psychobabble crap. on some level I kind of think real thoughts and emotions like that exist... like self-esteem, inner child, and shit like "you close other people out so you wont be hurt"... because so many people think their life is so complex, deep and wrought with unfairness. But most of the time I think they are just regurgitating after school special talks between the silly teenager and the stern but compassionate parent.

I mean, i understand the concepts, like what the definition is... but I have never been able to grasp the connection of how someone could be reduced to using those cliches and phrases as self description... or how it even matches.

Maybe it is just me, but your post, and a few others so far, have a quality kind of like someone getting punched in the stomach and trying to act like it didnt hurt at all. its so passive aggressive.

im not trying to make a point of "if i dont like you then why should that bother you"... i already know that it bothers everyone on some level. even watered down in text, on-line.

So far, i think the only person that has handled the statement well was ahimsa... it was genuine. ahimsa confronted it in his/her own way. I still dislike ahimsa.

I guess the point im getting at is why is it so hard to accept that someone doesnt like you?

person A:"I dislike you"
person B: "ok"

Even people that you think are horrible people, that you personally dislike immensly, can irk you by telling you they dont like you. Outside of fear of execution, if hitler told you he didnt like you, you would be kind of irked about it.
You would think, "hey, that guy was a deranged lunatic, i must be ok if he didnt like me"... but that isnt the case... you would be irked about it, rather than feel good about it.

On the contrary- you would like to believe that he has a problem with you not liking him. However, this is all imaginary and made up in your head. You can not get into all of our minds to find out whether anyone really gives a damn about one person on a message board saying they don't like you.
If this is real, It's clear you've been traumatized and have a reason for generally disliking strangers whom you've never met before.
