The first modern Hippie!

#1089806 - 11/27/02 02:13 AM (23 years, 10 months ago)

I know, I know. You guys think I make up stuff to puff myself up, but I have proof.

In 1958 I had gorgeous shoulder-length hair when everyone else had buzz cuts. If there is any interest, I will dig up a photo and post it. I was counter-culture BEFORE the Beatles, before Leary, before...

You folks may not agree with me, but I never lie.

(I was also the first white rapper in 1978, but I will save that for another time.)

Please Swami, a photo! Not that i don't believe you but i'd be curious to see.......as far as i know the only other person making such a claim(not meant in a derogatory sense) was Captain Beefheart(aka Don VanVliet)

What year did Blondie come out with Rapture. She did some rapping on that song.

If that was before '78, then she's got you beat.

These people are easy to convince of anything Swami and you know that. I think you preying on their harmless gullibility is shameless. You have lost all respect in my book. I don't know whether it is reading comprehension or what but I firmly DO NOT believe your claim:

Emphasis mine.

You know my mission here is to free, not ensnare, young minds.

You have lost all respect in my book.
Which is OK as when I provide proof, your respect for me will soar to new stratospheric heights.

OK, I exaggerated slighty. Not everyone else had buzz cuts, but most did. Some just kept it very short.

*whips out checkbook* Any takers? I am laying 5 to 1 odds of $100 to $500 and will be judged by an impartial jury.

Naw, this was way before Rapture. The only problem is the cassette is almost completely worn out. (Not an excuse.) I must remaster it to CD before it is completely gone.

So you are saying that it was in 1958? hmmm you are either much older than I am and I thought we were nearly the same age or it is a picture of you as a child. Or you were a part of the 'beat' generation, Kerouac and that bunch.

hmmm

ponders..........

It's important to preserve pieces of music history before they're gone forever.

Hey, you're not the only one with a claim to fame! I grew a goatee in 1993. Big deal? Well, I challenge anyone to find a picture of ANYONE with a goatee between say 1970 and 1993 (I realize I'm not the 1st to ever wear one, I think they were popular back in Freud's time, but I brought the fad back). I was the ONLY person I knew with one, and I was living in the San Francisco Bay Area at the time.

Sorry Blue. I really don't mean to upstage you, but if I haven't thrown it out, in my 1978 passport picture, I am sporting a gnarly goatee. It was my motorcycle hellion days.

DAMN YOU! Alright, maybe I wasn't the FIRST one, but the FAD didn't begin until around 1995, so I still claim to be among the originators!

Hey, you're not the only one with a claim to fame! I grew a goatee in 1993.

i was under the impression that goatee's were very big during the beat(nic) era in the 50's......although i don't have a picture to prove it, i had one in 1977......a "little Jesus" i think they were calling it

Are you SURE you had one in 1993 and not 1995?

Those were still EXTREMELY rare then.
