You don't find suffering outside yourself. Suffering is in your own mind

As i said before im not one to blindly accept anything, in fact id say im one of the most sceptical people ive met.

My root master has never told me to belive anything he has taught, but has urged me time and time again to test the methods presented, and never to just belive becuase he says something is so.

Actually i can never tell what he is thinking, my views have only come to mirror his own in some ways through direct expereince of those teachings and not through blind faith or mental conditioning. Im not under his guidence to learn something fun or interesting, but i am leraning to discover my real nature again and again so as to be stable in that state of enlightenment.

Ok then

p.s. To be enlightened, you must never think yourself enlightened, or think about how far did you reach on the "enlightenement scale"
That's like falling to sleep and thinking: "Am I there yet?"

If one was to think onself enligtened then it would surely be a geat delusion close to that of a mentally ill patient thinking that they are perfectly sane.

p.s Someone once asked my master "How do you know when your enligtenend?". He replied "How do you know you woke up this morning!"

I wrote that because I thought you said that you are in states of enlightenement yourself, I was refering to this part of your text:
"Im not under his guidence to learn something fun or interesting, but i am leraning to discover my real nature again and again so as to be stable in that state of enlightenment"

But now you have confused me because you said basicly what I said in my last post. So then, have I misunderstood your text?

Granted but thats not how its promoted by these hippies, and its exactly why in most cases it didntnt work, the hippies all expected to live carefree away from society and its troubles, but found that wherever they went in this world they could not escape suffering.

That's a complete straw man. There may have been some hippies who thought this way, but you're simply attributing an idealistic and extreme opinion to ALL hippies, and claiming that this is why they're all naive and silly. I might as well argue against what you say by digging up some quote where someone said that all people with long hair should be jailed, and thus any anti-hippy sentiment is utter fascism.

But if by some miracle they did find a place where everyone agreed and shared the same views and lived a carefree existence, what motviation would there be to do any spiritual practice? Why bother if everything is pleasant and fine?

Sure, why bother. Is spirituality really good for anything anyways? Do we need to believe in fairy tales?

I am forever a beginner and never have i professed to being enlightened although i am trying my best to train in that state.

People generally have a big misunderstanding when it comes to enlightenment in thinking that it is the end of the path, when it always has been and always will be the very beginning, its not some special state of awe and wonder, its just you as you are minus your conditioning.

Training in that unconditioned state has to be continuous and it takes a very long time to become stable in that state. But in essence everyone is completely perfect and enlightened just as they are, its that this knowlege is covered by a thick layer of ignorance that needs to be cut through.

So thats what i am training to do over and over, just to simply cut through this layer of ignorance and contact the essence of being, which is nothing special.

I really quite a poor practitioner, but i am trying my best which is all i can do! I am not completely awake and probably wont be this lifetime, but maybe within the next few ill have practiced enough to become stable.

By the comment "these hippies" if you look through my posts you will see specificly what kind of hippy i am referring to.

If you belive that there is nothing more to spirituality than belief then you are severly misktaken. I suggest you go research and study a little more beofore you come to such sad conclusion.

I never said that enlightenement is some kind of a goal you achieve and then stop. I consider enlightenment to be a path. So an enlightened person is a person on a journey that will lead him to a better understanding of himself and the universe, and more importantly learning what it all means for a human such as him and how to deal with it.

did we not go to a lot of trouble when you left forever?
last week or two weeks ago?

now you bring so much pent up aggression and argument with nothing to do on the topic of this thread; then are we supposed to have long goodbye's again if you don't get a following?

is that what this is about?

do you want a following?

What? First off i never said i was leaving forever, and ive been gone a month or so, i didnt know you were the forum police, do i have to pay some kind of fine?

Secondly my topic was meant to spark debate, its up to you if you want to take it so seriously.

Thirdly what the hell are you talking about gathering a following? I have no such intentions nor do i see how you can interpret my posts that way?

What are you talking about with regard to agression and argument and the rest of your comments? Im lightly debating, whats your problem?

Hey redgreenvines are you on drugs, no seriously?

Relax dude im not an army recruitment officer! :crazy2:

He's got a point Sinbad. This has turned into your good bye thread all over again. Consider Sinbad, that no one has changed since you left and neither have you. You left this board because people were not practicing your form of spirituality, the true one, something like that.

If your back to convince everyone again that your way is the way ummmmm good luck  This is the toughest spirituality forum on the net packed with people who all go their own way , somehow together. Its pretty cool if you can get the hang of it. Time will tell.

WTF!!! I swear your all nuts! whats are you talking about, it seems that since i left youve all lost your marbles, which is probably a good thing.

The reason i left is becuase many of you seem to be talk and no action, theory and no practice. When i investigated deeper into peoples philosophies, spirituality, i didnt get many clear responses which lead me to the conclusion that most people on this forum lack clarity as to what a spiritual path actually entails, as the principles of most spiritual paths are fundamentally the same.

Im never was nor am i now trying to convert people to "My spiritual path" Nor am i trying to convince anyone that my way is the only way so what are you talking about?

Im not saying goodbye again, i have accepted the situation on this forum and as such have adjusted some of my unfounded expectations to compensate. Now im back (although im not exactly sure why). I cant belive how much you've misunderstood me, its like you give my dead words their own life depending on your perspective, which i suppose is to be expected.

Research and study the myriad of spiritual paths around to discover that not all are based on beliefs or fairytale fantasies.

Its sad becuase its so easy to get caught up and conditioned by pleasurable experinces and states of mind, yet when they come to an end experiences of loss and suffering are invevitable and appear to wake us up from slumberland.

Maybe you just don't understand us.

Were you expecting everyone to immediately be stunned by the sheer brilliance of you post and suddenly see the errors of their ways?

Well its quite obvious that you dont understand me at all. But its ok. What are you talking about, are you being sarcastic, if so why? Do i threaten you in some way? Or have i offended you?

What leads you to believe that i think my posts are so brilliant? Why do you think im trying to convert people or stun them by my comments?  :tongue2: im really quite bemused by all this.

Again, if you say we don't practice what you do the way you do then we are not practicing spirituality. Again, you say if we do not adhere to the same fundamentals then we are not clear on what a spiritual path is, meaning not clear on the fundamentals of your path, tis true, I have no idea what you think the fundamentals are.

I do know I have fun being mental.

I'm sure you will find many here that share in many of your ideals. It's difficult to figure out what they are when they are over coated with so much judgment.

Why not start a post on the fundamentals of spirituality and we'll go from there. Screw it, I will. This should be interesting.
