Its all a bunch of Tree Huggin Hippie Crap!

Hippies must pay, they are giving a bad name and face to spirituality, whenever someone is in need, youll find a hippie saying "Chill out man, just relax and be happy then everything will be cool" this is not helpful and extremly counter productive, as it creates aversion in the minds of potential spiritual warriors.

Suddenly spiritual endeavors are either seen as pointless hippy'esque tree huggin nonsense, or christian bible bashing brainwashing so people feel terribly averse to anything remotley spiritual and see it as either just another form of escapism or a way of controlling society and imposing on their freedoms when in fact the opposite is true.

Beware hippies, your time of extinction is near, you may have brought us good music and LSD but beware if you continue to pretend to be anything but the lazy, smelly, dope smokers that you are, there will be consequences! Spiritual progress is not exclusivly independant of a job, a car and a "normal" life. So whenever a hippy says those famous words "Relax man" be sure to make him/her aware of the consequences of their stupidity!

whoa. someone really hates hippies. The term hippy is pretty loose these days. People call me a hippy and I have a job at a hospital. Nowadays of you're into eastern thought and likes drugs, you're a hippy. So, you're probably a hippy.
Maybe you shouldn't stereotype so much, and worry less about other people.  :poke:
I mean I'm kinda sick of hippies too, but.... whatever. I don't think people associate spirituality with hippies. Mainly LSD and Grateful Dead.

i find it very strange that you find what ive said to be bitter. When to me it reads like sweet music. Hippies genrally advocate laziness and escapism which is the complete opposite to the spiritual path.

Many hippies that are on this love and light trip dont want to accept the negativities in life, and piss off the general population with their hippy'esque bullshit that has nothing to do with true spirituality.

Lazyness? I wouldn't call them lazy. In their communes, they grew food and drugs. And they often had protests and activley tried to bring peace.

with the same standards you begin with here, you could call Jesus and his deciples lazy too, yet they were working day and night spreading
the message of love and peace.

I always find it pretty funny when someone who considers themselves spiritual blasts someone else's beliefs.

It's fairy tale vs. fairy tale. You can't win that kind of argument.

I've known a bunch of hippies who don't adhere to normal social values, and they're all friendly, helpful people. For me, I want a job where I can do something fun. I'd much rather have a steady job that's part of society, but there's no way I'm going to end up as something like an investment banker. I'd much rather live on a commune that engage in some boring ass shit like that... and I'm certainly no hippie.

There's no shortage of people willing to do lame jobs, it's not like we're at risk of everyone falling into laziness. The world is a much more interesting place when there are a wide variety of people who have different interests, desires, and values. Complaining that not everyone follows yours is pretty damn arrogant.

Just because some people enjoy living their lives differently does not mean they are of any less value than you.

Why would you care what how different approaches to spirituality are "seen"? How can that be considered spiritual advancement, to be worried about how OTHER PEOPLE are going to view YOUR approach to your spiritual life?

dude lay off the hippys if the world had more of them it would be a better place. Hippys embrace life, and to them(and me) this is their spirituality. So you are wrong man, spirituality doesnt have to be about believing in something(although obviously it can be). For me spirituality is just about living life to its fullest. Every second you spend bashing hippys is wasted, unless your "spirituality" is hippy bashing i guess. So like you said, Chill out man, just relax and be happy then everything will be cool. Peace

I would say, calm down, let the hippies (and their polar opposites, investment bankers) do whatever the hell they want, and you do that too.

Chill out. No matter what anyone says, in the moral and physical sense the hippy is a myth. There are no people who embody the hippy code in existance. The hippy mentality is purportedly to embrace peace, happiness, and the acceptance of others with an open mind. All of the long haired, dope smoking, LSD swilling guys you see around these days are so hung up on theirselves, getting high, and staying dirty, that they ain't got time for righteous causes or high ideals. They just use these images to promote themselves as high principled, moral, and groovy individuals when all they really care about is staying high. Even back in the 60s there may have been no more than a few thousand real hippies...the rest were around for the free drugs. Every single "hippy" I ever met was a hyppocrite. Maybe hyppy would be a more correct term. So, quit being paranoid about hippies. You are more likely to meet an elf or a dragon than a true hippy.
