dung pile... will it freeze?
    #979529 - 10/21/02 12:03 PM (15 years, 6 months ago)

I have some jars of birdseed that i need to dump and was wondering if i could do so into a big pile of dung, but with the winter coming on will the freezing temperature kill it all? or might it just make it through? you also have to think about how it stays alive through ANY winter. they do some how.. maybe it's plugged up in hibernating bear asses. heh

It freezes in parts of Texas & shrooms grow wild there.

It'll go dormant through winter and revive in the spring. Just like all the mycellium of all the mushrooms that grow in places like Canada and other snowy place. If you live in like, the Yukon or someplace, it may be a bit too cold for cubensis mycellium. After all, cubensis normally grow in warm countries and sruviving freezing temps isn't really a natural part of it's life cycle.
