eugene mushroom festival
    #973005 - 10/18/02 06:22 PM (21 years, 7 months ago)

The mount pisgah mushroom festival is coming!!!!!!!
last year this festival was a tremendous undertaking with a phenomenal turn-out and an unusually large number of species.
i was overwhelmed.
someone () brought them an azure, which they claimed had never been on display at their show before.  someone was happy about that.

anyway, i was thinkin that some heads might want to hook up at this wonderful fest, share some knowledge, stand around in awe together, and generally enjoy the mushrooms together (sounds gay, but i'm going anyway, whether you do or not)

here's a link. http://www.efn.org/~mtpisgah/

the date is sunday, october 27th.
if the rains are here, the mushrooms will be off the hook!!!!!!!!!!!
peace.

pm me if you want to hook up at the show.
peace

where do they do this at, this mushroom festival? The eugenites should get together and make a road trip to the astoria.

Peace,

Dimes

Hi Folks!

Wow I am so blown away. I stumbled onto this website and suddenly the sense of obscurity I have felt for my personal interests has been completely blown away. Not only that, but in a world of more than 6 billion people and an ever-expansive internet it is almost unbelievable to me how many people at this one particular (yet worldwide) web site are in the same freaking area as me.

So first off, let me say that I will be at the Mt. Pisgah Mycological Festival as I am every year. Secondly I am profoundly interested in getting to the Astoria region as I never
seem to find a whole heck of a lot in my immediate area. I find some, but not enough of what I'm looking for.

I've been reading these forums for a day or two in between my other projects and this is my first post. I hope to get to know everyone more here and hook up perhaps this Saturday at the FungiFest. I'd love to meet up with fellow enthusiasts. Who knows, I may know or have met some of you already.

Astoria... Soon... Have car.. Will travel..

Sounds great, I really love looking at large groups of mushrooms spread out on tables and identified. The mushroom season is winding down here in the NE.

Well the mushroom fest was a blast.  They had so many varieties of mushrooms there,  but there were a few the were not there.  Pobably due to the lack of rain here.  There were no Psilocybe speicies  only one Paneolus.  I should went and pick some Subbs for them before i went.  Also there werre many others that were not there also .  I did not see any Morels or  Princes.  Oh weel i still had a blast.........peace

Thanks Viscid

I was there too, so damn crowded, it always suprises me to see thousands of people at the show year after year. There were 4 small Cyanescens specimens ( very fresh and nice) they were in a gallon glass jar a taped up so no one would steal 'em. I must say that it was ironic that we had 2-3 days of rain all Oct. and on the day of the show it rains. Most of the other examples looked a little rough around the edges, a little dry & old.

Hmmm...The Cyans must have arrived after Viscid and I left. I thought is was cool that it had rained on the day of the Fest. It gave it the good old Oregon mushroom season feel again. Hope it rains much more though...........peace

well, the post didn't work as i'd hoped, as i didn't recieve any pms that would help meet up.
it's cool to know that some of you were there.
the specimens all seemed weathered and oldish (except for the damn laetiporous!! what a specimen!!!)  as gsa said, there were no psilo species, and only one panaeolus - although i was there by 10 am and gone by 2 ish.
i didn't see any edible agaricus.
the helvellas were cool. and i had no idea you guys (i'm native now, too, but i forget...hehe) got gyromitra in the fall.  the imperial cats this year weren't monstrous.  saw some friends.
joe at the id booth confirmed my boletus pseudoscaber and my inocybe calamistrata.  strange to find a psilocybin containing mushroom in the old growth!!!!

overall, nice fest considering the weather, although i left the fest and went straight to a park and saw at least three species that weren't on display in a few minutes...
should have gone back.

peace to all!!!

There WERE Ps. Cyanescens and I was there at 12 , did anybody else see the large glass jar with 4 Cyans in there? They were at the end of the middle table near the stage and shroom vendors, in between the Chanterelles and jellies.
