P. Azurescens in Eugene OR
    #941118 -

I am not sure if I should give away my secret patch, but I can tell you that Saturday I found four small Psilocybe azurescens (with some teeny-tinies) in Eugene Oregon, and I revisited my spot today and found two more. I ate three and recieved the expected effect. They had that certain Psilocybian smell to them, and they had a thin blue ring at the veil / cap interface, and they also bruised blue, but not quickly or profoundly. The pictures are small, but they are the best description I have.

Dobie you don't think those look like Azures? I think they do.. let them grow out though man. no reason to be picking them so early.

i'd bet they are either Azures or Cyans, either way you've got a great score there.

oh so you were actually serious? I thought I was just going along with your joke.

Well, I thought they were azures, also could be cyans I suppose; I have only found cyans so I wouldn't know. They look like pics I've seen of baby azures, and they also look like some baby cyans that I've picked. One thing is for sure though, you have found some potent shroomies! If this really is your "secret spot" that no one else knows than I would have left them there to grow big and strong though.

Congrats

Eugene isn't even 60 miles off the coast.. i'm sure they grow there naturally.

Those are azurs (maybe cyans).  Azur if the stems turned TOTALLY black from bruising.  BUT DUDE USE SCISORS IF YOU WANT YOUR PATCH TO REJUVINATE!!!! DONT CUT OFF THE "MYCILIUM ROOT" AND IF YOU DO PUT IT BETWEEN DAMP COROGATED CARDBOARD AND KEEP IT GOING AND THEN PLANT IT IN THE OLD LIBRARY SHRUBS ON 1.3 STREET (or is it 13th street now ) So did you find those at the library???? hehe
later and out from the dank eugene where dank means rank and wet!!!

BTW: IF YOU REALLY FOUND THOSE IN EUGENE IT WAS PROBABLY SOMEBODY ELSES PATCH ANYHOW OR AT LEAST THEIR OLD ONE. DID NOT EXPECT THEM TO HAVE SPREAD HERE NATURALLY YET. MAYBE SPORES ON SOMEONES SHOES. PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG!

A better pic, of a mature fruit would help ID them. Just off the bat, they look like one or the other & active. There are some active shrooms in the Eugene area & Willamette valley in general. At the right time of year (starting about now) the raccoon has found active ones from Gold Beach up the coast all the way to the Canadian border & in some spots in the Willamette valley - proper. Around the little rinky dink airport out of Eugene, take a look around hay, dung, compost piles & natural area's bordering farm feilds.

No, I didn't steal out of someone's private patch, they were in a public area in Eugene, and that patch has been very undisturbed for at least 3 years, according to nearby plant growth. They were under a 6 inch layer of decomposing, naturally occuring leaf litter and other plant scraps about 6 inches thick. I would never have seen them, but my friend was looking for slugs and millipedes and called them to my attention to ID. I'm planning on going back after the rain we are supposedly going to get around Thursday. I'll try using scissors next time, and I'll post pictures of what I get.

It is nearly impossible to differentiate young azure and cyan specimens. According to your habitat, I would ID them as cyans. I found my first psycho active shrooms in Eugene when I used to live there a few years ago. I found them in a city park named after a famous artist. To be sure of their ID, you need to let the specimens age. The determining characteristics will become evident as the fruits mature.
