Pf tek monotub.. input?

im thinking about taking one of those sterlite containers and making a monotub out of it. with 4-5 pf tek 1/2 pints. ive made mini 1 cake monos before and got about 40g out of each what do you think. i dont like messing with grains cuz i just have bad luck with em.

I see it all the time.

As a matter of fact, PF mixture absorbs more water than grains, and brown rice is more nutritious than any other grain.

my tubs, even though they are at a 1-3 and 1-4 spawn rate. are taking forever! everything esle is by the books.

The PF Tek is so simple and its just so easy to make work...aslo not too expensive

WBS is so easy too and you can get 40lbs of WBS for 10-15 bucks..

I was going to say the same thing.. but I had to log in. :rolleyes: Ive done trays with PF cakes crumbled up it worked alright. WBS is way easier and less messy. Bulk substrate is really messy though, matter fact Im pasteurizing some as I type. :mushroom2::mushroom2:

I hate wearing gloves, Id rather wash frequently with anti bacterial soap. Cow shit is nasty in the finger nails.

hpoo, pillow case method, pasterized, then once it cooled I squeezed the case and got about 50% of the water out then hung it in the sink for a few hours.

after i squeezed it it still had a steady stream of water coming out of the bag.

My next grow is gonna be a Mini Dubtub, and I'm gonna spawn to a bulk substrate.  Now I didn't plan on getting a PC just yet, so my plans are to get 12 half-pints of BRF which = 3 qts.  It's the same principle as using 3 qts. of something like WBS, although 12 BRF cakes in gonna be much more of a pain in the ass lol.  I don't mind tho, because I wanted to make BRF cakes at some point - but it'll be awesome to not have to fruit them as-is.  For a bulk substrate, I planned on getting a package of either WTS or HMC, which I've seen some great results from.  I'm gonna spawn the 3 qts. of BRF cakes to a 10lb bag of the bulk, and split it up between 2 Mini Dubs.

See I have wait atleast 3 hours to squeeze the bag is too warm. How do it right away? My hands get scolded. I let it drain for about 6-8 hours. I like my poo a little more moist then field capacity, works good for me. Im doing a new study, called dancing tiger. hmmmmmmmmm

twist the bag, I put all the poo in one corner swing it so it starts twisting up and then put cold water on the part that doesn't have poo in it, too cool the case, then I just twist until it's tight and press it against the sink and repeat until most of the water in the top is gone.

I dont know it seems like it's not colonizing the poo at all. i crumbled cakes on top and they where doing fine..I added water becuase it felt really dry from sitting I guess and I havn't had any new growth, but I dont have standing water or anything.

Last night I took a sterile fork and broke up my tubs a bit, just to mix the crumbled caked on top a bit into the substrate cus I'm out of ideas. It felt like it was a huge cake, but no normal white growth.

I'm going with wbs next time, which I should of done this time, it would of been the same about of money that I spent on the pftek.

Sounds like you took to much moisture out of them with the pillow case.. You should do it buy hand.. Take a handful and give it a gently squeeze till you see drops of water coming out..

Squeeze Meter

5 -- Gently Persuasion/Perfect squeeze for moisture content..

1 -- Limp Noodle

PF tek is good to fruit from cakes, its easy that way. Any grain is good if your going bulk easy to spread it out thats what your really for. I put about 10 holes at substrate level fill with polyfil. Cover the tub with press and seal or cyran wrap. Then I put a trash bag over the top like a condom. Usually Im colonized in 6 days. I dont put in fruiting conditions til 10-15 days. How many days has it been since you mixed everything together?

Nice seems to work for you I have 27 quart tubs with clear lids.. I put 2 holes in each side at sub lvl 2 inch holes and 2 holes at the top on each side for Fresh Air.. So I only have 4 holes total..

And I cover it with baby blanket..  Just comparing your teks with my teks..

well to compare further, I had 7 oz of first flush of my latest tub, and 3 oz off second. my tubs r lil bigger. bout double. they're equivalent to a 18 gal. I had some crazy mutation out of it though, messed up was suppose to be PE, ending up with some blue meanie in there. The fruits in general looked like PE the gills didnt drop spores, except for 1 of em =). The caps came out solid black with blue all over them, some with orange blue, they knock ur dick in the dirt.

Im gunna try some smaller tubs too, its seems like my effiency will be alot higher with those. I had a 11 incher come out of there, I was going to clone it but im lazy and decided to eat it. :eek:
When I have my own labratory you will see some cool things from me on here. Thats later on down the road when I build a new house.

Nice.. I am working under cramped conditions too because I live in an apartment cause my wife is still in school.. When she is done we plan on building a house with a spare bedroom or office for my hobby  :grin:
