Canberra Season 2008

So, its been getting a little colder in the last few days and my eyes keep on straying to the mountains. There has been a bit of rain in the last few days, so i figured it deserved a quick trip out to check the lay of the land. Its a little early yet but the outcomes are looking very promising.

I must admit that i was a little surprised at the number there were. It has only just started to become cool enough in town, but out in the hills things are a different story.
There were a group there that i was too late to actually collect, they were already decaying, so i assume they have been there for a week or so.
The patch that they came from is still pinning strongly and will need to be visited again in the near future.
Me thinks that leaving work a little earlier today than normal may be in order to go look at some of the better and more fruitilicious patches that i ran out of time to get to last night...
This season is soooo on

I went back put to the same patch on the weekend and i think that it has just not quite had the water it needed over the last few days to get the real cropping happening. Either the small pins died or someone collected what had grown, but there were some that had just aborted from what i assume is lack of water.
With that in mind, moving in to some spots with a slightly different aspect may be a good idea.
Checked some of the more local sites and its still too dry in a lot of them.
Very nice to see other people getting finds locally this early

Hay nevo, nice finds! I'm in the ACT too. Hmm, didn't see much rain in the local areas as you mentioned, still too early, but I need to check out the mountains. Which areas do you usually goto? I've been to the 'Gardens' a few times, but it just seems a little too sus, hehe, to pick them from there while there are workers walking around watching. If you want, Nevo, PM, maybe we could go hunting together one day?
