Season in new south wales?

Well, this is my first post, but I won't go too far off topic and talk about myself much, I'll leave that for another time. I'm an Aussie, from new south wales, a couple hours out of Sydney. I've been interested in trying 'shrooms for a couple months now, and didn't have any luck finding a person who could sell me some, so I've decided to go look for some on a friends farm. Thing is, I've got no idea what the season for finding 'shrooms is around here, so if someone could let me know between what months they grow best I'll be thankful. To those who help, thanks alot.

Generally NSW season is from Mid-Late April through to August/Early August. Depending on rainfall and temperature conditions the season can start/finish earlier/later.
Now is a perfect time to go hunting! Let us know how you go

Now I'll just need to say to my friend "hey, do you mind if I look for mushrooms in your cow poo?" Oh, one more question, will I have to actually dig through the crap or do they grow outside of it?

You must sift through the fresh cow dung, and the best tool for this is your toothbrush.
Seriously though, they pop out of the dung, and you only pick the part that sticks out, not the part that grows inside the pile. Happy hunting.

Ok, thanks for the help people. You've been a big help. I'm probably seeing this person over the next week or so, so there'll be time for looking.

Actually EJ i might be wrong but i was under the impression that the mushrooms you're looking for on farms(ps.cubensis, pa.cyanescens) fruit only in the warmish humid months after rain. That's the reason that Victoria and south don't really get cubensis but northern NSW and Queensland do.
Depending where you are you might be better off looking for ps.subaeuruginosa which don't fruit from cow shit at all and are found from wood mulch, litter and chips - Either in the bush or around urban chip beds.
Use the search feature and the NSW 2007 thread to find out about subs, they're the shrooms that are really in season now.

Ok, one more question (yes, I'm sorry about bringing this back up lol), about how many should I try and gather? I won't have scales to carry around at the time, so just an idea on a good amount (well, enough for some damn good hallucinating).

How many people are going to trip, and how gone do you want to be?

It'll be just me, probably just looking for 1 or 2 good trips. I'm overweight for my height, so I guess it'd take a bit more than the average person.
