the clockworks
    #7982201 - 02/05/08 11:05 AM (15 years, 11 months ago)

my problem with our ideas about time aside from the ridiculous calculations of our calender (12 months in a year?) stems from a deep rooted believe in a spontaneous discipline which arises and flows freely in immediate experience. one cannot impose it. this is what Lao Tsu called the tao. its been a struggle to learn how to maintain this practice of being ever present in the "world of man" without throwing all imposed appointments and obligations out the window. iv tasted eternity and liberation in the moment, but only have been able to maintain this state when I'm playing the drifter or wild yogi. broke and wandering aimlessly without a care or fear. but dropping out isn't always the ideal choice.

I'm not opposed to hard work, in truth i enjoy it. I'm not opposed to pain and suffering either. but am opposed to a life without spontaneity, a life void of the freedom found only here and now.

i feel like iv fallen into the trap of the clockworks, certanly nor for the first time. and so today i feel the need to remind myself what it feels like to be alive  :peace:  I'm off, perhaps ill go jump into the river, lol, that always brings me back to myself.

Yeah, i feel that.
When life lacks spontaneity, i feel time flies. As i get older (21 now) i'm noticing things speeding up as a result of days become more and more the same. Working blows hard, i'm not opposed to working either, but i get the sense of only temporary enjoyment in a new job. Recreation is what we need to escape this temporarily to keep ourselves stable or sane.

Though i've seen the odd person who travels the country constantly, living out of their bus getting casual work where ever they can. These people often seem much happier than the unemployed and the regular'nine-to-fivers.'

I cannot help feel how often i am "switched off" when i've been doing the same thing everyday, some weeks i only remember the weekend because its the only time i was really switched on.
I imagine myself as a robot, or a maybe even clockwork doll, routine, repetition, invariance.

Without love and/or recreation and hope, i find it hard to see a point in the existence many of us live. I am happy enough for i have all three. I just wish the weeks, months, years didn't perceptually accelerate!

i feel just too lazy to do what I must
all those things are part of an idea
to change from dust to dust
but the ends and beginnings are meaningless
all the time between is what is interesting
or maybe it is just interest itself that is interesting

Time is yours, and don't you forget that.
If you believe in true silence, time exist because you think it does.
It's not the acceleration of time that bothers you, it's your incompitence to spend it in whatever you want. You fear it, tho, I doubt if you have the credits to stop the clock, to build it all, to finish him off.
