Fish Oil/Omega 3 for Depression
    #7933685 - 01/26/08 03:43 AM (16 years, 6 days ago)

Has anyone here used Omega 3 to treat depression? I've never been hardcore depressed...just minor depression, and I've always been opposed to taking meds for it.

I've been taking 1.5g fish oil for almost a month now, and man have I made some drastic changes with my life and mindset! I can't say for sure that's where the changes came from, but it's not unheard of.

I suggest all you depressed people give it a shot =0)

Yeah, there's some good research evidence that omega 3s help with mood regulation. They also help for cognitive function. It's good stuff.

Hmm...I did the whole flax seed oil thing (1T/day) for about a month and didn't see much difference...but I think I'm going to give it a shot once more and up the dosage.

Weird thing about that article is they said the people in the 1g bracket saw significant improvements, where the 2g bracket saw little change and the highest, 4g, "showed a trend toward improvement in symptoms." Seems a little counter intuitive to me, but when it comes to supplements sometimes excess can be just as bad as none.

I would recomend Udo's 3:6:9 It has all the good fats in the right proportion. Also try eating raw eggs. They are an excelent source of omega 3's. Avacados are good too. yep.:bongload:
