LSD + Xanax

Welp, I've never done acid. I've wanted to, but have enough self constraint to prohibit myself from doing so. Ive ate mushies loads of times, grew etc. etc., but had a few bad trips and never wanted to risk having a bad acid trip. I can never seem to prevent my thoughts from running wild. clearly i'm not supposed to, but that's a whole 'nother issue.

Welp it came up somehow the other day in conversation that my friend always takes a small dose of xanax to keep his mind from running off while he's dosing. I thought it might be a solution to my apprehension. i'm sure i'll love acid - but don't want to risk it.

Anybody have any experience with the combination? Any input is appreciated. I'm heading out for a few hours but i'll check back in later.

i like being on bars while shrooming but never tried on lsd. it takes a big edge off of your trip but you still are tripping. it's kinda like alcohol+psychedelics. for me, it's always like "holyshit, i'm drunk... and i'm tripping"


if you want the full blown trip mindset leave the bars alone, it definitely almost kills the psychedelic thought process. my pennies

Any type of downer tends to make a psychedelic experience pretty devoid of any real thoughts or meaning for a lot of people. Some people care for it, but most don't.

Maybe just have some on hand, in case the trip turns nasty, but I find working through a bad trip can actually turn it into a really important learning experience. That's better, in my opinion, than just quitting on the experience as soon as it starts getting challenging.

i know - and i hoped they would respond.

fact of the matter is the 'haters' in this thread/anywhere don't have sufficient information regarding me/who i am to make any judgements on what I should or should not do. What they do have sufficient information on, is the effects of the combination of these two drugs - which is why i posted.

If i wanted a bunch of uninformed opinions, i would have asked my real life friends.

Xanax can help with racey thoughts and such... a small amount will not take away from the trip. I would not take it to potentiate the trip... but if you have anxiety it could help

Best advice here.  :thumbup:

I never use benzodiazepines during a trip, but I usually have some on hand for the come down, especially when using LSD.  Why especially?  I find that I experience a lot of stimulant-like effects on this drug, much moreso than with mushrooms.  This makes the trip more energetic and has me wanting to move around and explore more.  But in turn, when the trip has passed its peak and I'm looking for sleep, it is often hard to be found.  This is why I keep 10 - 20 mg of Valium (diazepam) to help ease me back to reality and restful sleep.. but never have I found it necessary to dose during or before the experience.

For that matter, I would not advocate dosing before the experience.  Just keep your Xanax on hand as EllisDSox suggested, and use it only if you feel your anxiety reaching an uncomfortable level.  In my experience, the LSD trip is not inherently any more intense than a mushroom trip (dose dependent of course).  The most important thing for you to do, is to ensure that you are in a comfortable state of mind, and a comfortable physical setting - one where you will not be disturbed for a good 9 hours from the moment you dose.

ive never done heroin. but ive mixed acid and oxy, and god damn that was fun! talk about an intense body high. i suggest that. youll be so god damn calm while all this crazy shit is going on.

Geokills spelt it out well. Don't take the Xanax unless you feel the need to calm down right away.

Lots of people are very intimidated by LSD and it puzzles me. I think mushrooms are more hectic and hard to control than LSD. Go into it with an open mind, a positive attitude, and do it in a good setting and I'm sure you'll enjoy the experience.
