Why believe in what hasn't happened yet? Why create a sense of identity around some unforeseeable and undefinable event? Why invest any energy in it?
I try to keep an open mind about 2012, as I try to keep an open mind about tomorrow, three months from now, three seconds from now...

I was recently told that it was discovered in The Bible that the rapture would occur in 2012. A man I know well was told this by his fundamentalist minister. It is hilarious that the Christians have adopted 2012 from the new age culture....never suspecting that it was from a Terrence McKenna book...and was a drug induced notion. Watching Christians is a constant source of amusement Of course, Nostradamus predicted it...might as well get him on board for the ride ha ha ha!

A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda

shows me how little you and probably alot of other ignorant people here know about it. Do some research and find out whats really happening in the galaxy at that time...

I believe in 2012, and 2013, and 2014....
There have been far too many BIG predictions based upon astronomy, ancient calendar systems, ancient prophecies, etc...that have fallen flat. 2012 is the same deal, IMO.

The idea was popularized by McKenna and based on nonexistent "Mayan Prophecies". Terrence was no more of a nut job than Nostradamus. Ever week Nostradamus gets recycled with yet another bogus interpretation.
From Wikipedia:
Quote:
Nostradamus enthusiasts have credited him with predicting numerous events in world history, from the Great Fire of London, by way of the rise of Napoleon I of France and Adolf Hitler, to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center,[9] but only ever in hindsight. See Alternative views below. It is not only skeptics such as James Randi who suggest that his reputation as a prophet is largely manufactured by modern-day supporters who fit his words to events that have either already occurred or are so imminent as to be inevitable, a process sometimes known as "retroactive clairvoyance." There is no evidence in the academic literature (see Sources) to suggest that any Nostradamus quatrain has ever been interpreted as predicting a specific event before it occurred, other than in vague, general terms that could equally apply to any number of other events.

The way I look at it... If people are holding that reality in their mind it will happen. If they don't it won't. This is where it comes from, IMO. The future. Yes. No. Maybe.

Do you believe in tomorrow? Do you believe in you getting hungry? I'm going to go get some groceries right now so I can eat later, a point in time where I might not be able to be so prepared/opurtunistic.

I believe that those things will unfold based on past experience, but try to refrain from projecting the ways in which tomorrow will happen, or the time I will become hungry and the type of food I will desire.
Since I have no past experience that I can remember of some great transitional event like the 2012 'Singularity', I think only that the year 2012 will come, and along with it many things will happen which I can't possibly predict.

What alignment of the sun? Aligned with what? What about The Milky Way?
"Right" and "left" hemispheres of the Universe? Huh? The Universe doesn't have a right a left hemisphere...you couldn't tell which direction it is in anyway.

To be fair, 2012 does not even have to signify the end of the world. Not according to the Mayans. Not according to McKenna.
Rather, the prediction goes a bit like this: /me hums "It's the end of the world... AS WE KNOW IT."
The prediction suggests things will change greatly, in 2012... but it never goes so far as saying we'll all die.
I could be slightly off about the lore... but I am certain people are taking the original theory WAY too far out of its original context.
As for me, I think it is bullshit... but I also, think McKenna is FAR more likely to be proven right, than his (far too often) moronic followers.

Ignorant people? Left and right hempishere of the universe?
Clearly you have done some research, to have put forward such a claim. Well, in this forum, it is your responsibility to at least attempt to substantiate baseless assertions, so feel free to enlighten the ignorant individuals.
Could you please tell me how it has been determined that the universe has hemispheres, and that we are transitioning between them?

It's not hemisphere's man, everyone knows it's a polar shift... galactic alignment... trans-dimensional shift... radiation emanating from the center... high frequency ET contact... kind of sort of.
