Mcdonalds promises good tasting food for low prices. What they don't tell you in the commercials is that eating food from Mcdonalds is very unhealthy for your body. When I was a child, I saw Mcdonald's commericals, they had kids running around and enjoying happy meals, and adults eating burgers. I would think, Oh I see this is what normal people like to eat. What I didn't understand at the time however, was how badly it was effecting my small body. I used to eat Mcdonalds occasionly. I stopped eating there entirely 2 years ago. My friends dad, sure after the movie Super size me he heard a few comments about Mcdonalds being unhealthy, but he just didnt know, he had no idea, that place had the power to take his life. Mcdonalds cares nothing about the customer's heath. All it cares about is being rich. My dad's friend gave Mcdonalds his money and his trust, and in return the monster stole his life.

It is not the world's responsibility to look out for you or anyone else.

Oh come on man. I know it's hard to lose a parent. I lost my mom when she was 28. She was drinking and driving. The alcohol didn't seal her life. It was her choice. Yeah, it really does suck. But it was HER fault. Nobody elses, you see? Mcdonalds is there to serve us and make their money. They are a business. Just because he ate it everyday doesn't make it their fault. I could eat mcdonalds every day and by the time I am 60, i'll probably have a heart attack too. This is like that woman blaming salvia for her kid committing suicide. Come on man. Think about it. Your friend has my sympathy, but you cannot sit here and blame anyone other than his father. Even if the heart attack was caused by all the mcdonalds food, it was his mistake. Not theirs. This better not turn into one of those "IT WAS ALL MCDONALDS FAULT, CLOSE MCDONALDS." If I can't get my double cheeseburger or my McChicken, im gonna be pissed. Again, I am sorry for your friends loss.

Dude, I liked Mcdonald's a lot when I was a kid. But when I got out of puberty, it started to taste kind of..... disgusting to me. Now, there is NO FUCKING WAY I can put ANY fast food garbage down my throat. My taste buds just won't let me do it. They get one whiff of a quarterpounder, just one eensy little taste, and I automatically ralph up whatever it is I've just put in there.

Your body knows real food from fake food. Your friend's dad's body knew real food from fake food. McDonalds does not sell real food. You have to seriously override your system, and know that your doing it, for the sake of just being able to choke down that disgusting chemical food.

i hate to badmouth on such an occasion but you really leave me no choice - your viewpoint is just COMPLETLY wrong.

My friend's dad died the other day. He had a heart attack at his home and died. He was 59 years old. He ate Mcdonalds everyday of his life for 20+ years. Mcdonalds took his life. They sell unhealthy food. Its just as bad as the tobacco company. Both are addictive. And both end lives.

Who's to say he wouldn't have had that heart attack either way?

anyone ever read

Junk
by Christopher Largen?

its about a society in which junk food is prohibited much in the same way drugs are in our society.

pretty funny satire of prohibition.

it uses basically the same arguements against drugs to say junk food should be outlawed (public health and productivity, etc...) They even go so far as to make insulin illegal for diabetics because they don't want to be 'soft on junk'. kinda like medical mj.

anyway this post made me think of that book.

Your right about the fact that the guy shouldn't have eat there so much. But people are starting to wake up now in modern day. We have to start telling more people, "Hey look, eating at Mcdonalds today might not be such a good idea." We got to teach people the ways of healthy eating. Otherwise, no one will learn, and people who eat Mcdonalds will continue to suffer.

Because we're not doing that already?
Maybe you missed "Super Size Me" just to name just one thing that have been aiming to do that.

And seriously, if people want to eat McDonald's, people want to eat McDonald's. Just like drugs, if they're too fucking stupid to educate themselves or realize that there ARE risks involved, then frankly I don't give a damn, it's their own fault.

where does it end, though?

this is the same mentality of drug prohibition supporters. Using the government to 'protect people from themselves'.

Having the freedom to be a glutton comes with the responsibility to eat sensibly IF you want to avoid health problems.

they went so far as to put a warning label on cigarettes, and people still buy those

what more would you want them to do? Create a government-approved, state sanctioned diet and force everyone at gunpoint to stick to it? Yeah, we'd all be healthy as hell, but I doubt anyone would be happy.

seriously, wtf is wrong with you. do you not give ONE SHIT about personal freedoms? Yeah sure, a man is dead, but so are several other million men. At least this guy ate his favorite fucking food (which personally I find to be disgusting.... mickey d's makes my blood curdle) every fucking day of his stupid, gluttonous, arterially challenged life. Every time a french fry touched his lips his long-lost dick twitched a little, and he knew he was alive. Would you really want to deny a man who lived a long life the pleasure of the sweet saturated fat that brought him so much joy? The sad thing is, you're making him out to be dumber than he probably was, which is disrespectful to the man's memory. He knew Mcdonald's wasn't good for him. Everyone does. He knew if he didn't take care of his body, when he got old it would crap out a little early. But he still made the choice to go eat at his favorite place in the world.

WHY THE FUCK DO YOU THINK ITS OKAY FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO TELL PEOPLE WHAT THEY CAN AND CANNOT PUT IN THEIR OWN BODIES? If you think that's a morally defensible position, you are clearly a narc lurking on the boards and you should leave now before I send my army of acid elves to lock down your residence. Is someone on the shroomery seriously advocating that the government should have MORE control over substance intake?? Hasn't that already caused enough suffering for everyone here? What are they going to do next, start arresting the cashiers at mcdonalds, taking them to a little room, and telling them "Look dude, we know you're not the biggest guy in town. Just tell us who's driving the truck with all the frozen potatoes and we can let you go right now."
