I use to vote for GREEN, and now I am supporting Pauls candidacy.
Here's where I like him regarding the environment-
1) He would STOP the government subsidization of Oil companies and all industry, that includes logging.
2) He would remove any legal blocks, that stand in the way of alternative energy sources being able to compete in the market place.
For example, he wants to legalize commercial grade hemp, which could save a lot of trees that help keep the air clean and do what he could to promote a faster switch over to alternatives fuels.
It's not that he would "trust" industry to not pollute. He trusts People to make the right choice when given the freedom to choose, the products and services of companies that do not pollute over those that do. He wants to see clean air and water conscious companies compete with the others and drive them out, through consumer demand.
That will be easier once the subsidies and any laws blocking the competition from entering the market place are removed.
He also says that the people living near industrial pollution plants NEED to SUE and raise hell about it. If property rights become stronger and it is illegal to cause harm to another's property, think of how easy it will be to win court cases against companies that are polluting the environment of another property.
What Paul's message is about, is A LOT bigger then forcing industry under more environmental friendly regulations.
He is about more than a wake up call, he is about a grow the fuck up, take your lives and power back from the government message.
WE the people have grown far to dependent on the government to "take care of us". This is what he says again and again and again.
By limiting government and its power.....it opens the door for US, we the people, to regulate ourselves and each other with our power.
If so many people want cleaner air, water and earth, why are we going along with government working to pollute it all?
How many crying about wanting government to fix these things
recycle?
use organic fertilizers and pesticides?
have Freon in their ACs?
drive gas consuming cars and lawn mowers?
smoke?
drink polluted beverages filled with toxins (alcohol, sodas etc) ?
dump tons of phosphates into the water supply via the laundry and dish washer detergents they use?
Clean their their homes with organic cleaners?
Have high grade filters on their heating and cooling systems?
Intentionally, plant trees and plants, let alone keep dozens in their own homes?
I can go on and on about where we the people consume the products of planet polluting companies and act irresponsibly with our own homes and lives. I bet the answer is that ZERO of the whiners do at least all of the above.
Pretty much, Paul's candidacy is about getting him in, so he can return the power to make things right again mostly all over to US, we the people who keep complaining about all that government isn't doing to take care of us.
That is why many liberal and environmentalists are appealing to him. They are the ones who are more pro-actively already working to not support the polluting companies and support the environmentally friendly ones where they can and are taking action with their own homes, yards, and neighborhoods. They are not afraid, that he is going to cut many apron strings regarding environmental regulations.
The U.S. government is doing a piss poor job with it anyway. We haven't even signed the Kyoto treaty yet.
Ron Paul scares and worries two types of people in this world
1) Those who want the government to take care of them and the planet.
2) those who are making money off of, caring for those made sick by those polluting our bodies and planet, with more products that pollute our bodies and the planet ( pharmaceuticals) . ( I just read statistics of how many synthetic pharmaceutical drugs are entering our water supplies) it's disgusting and the chemicals in pharm drugs ad to the toxification and acidosis that creates the breeding ground for disease in the body as well.
3) those making money off of polluting our bodies and planet in general.
There is a 4th type who isn't afraid of Paul, but are rather concerned that Americans have grown so dependent, lazy and dumbed down, that when provided with more reason to have to take greater responsibility for their own actions, will drop the ball.
It's a chance I am willing to take and things may get a little worse until people figure out, the upsides and act. At least, their will be a chance for a positive 180 to take place.
If we keep voting in the neo libs, and neo cons, the environment will progressively become uninhabitable. Look at what they just did approving for a Canadian Oil company to dump tons of mercury, lead, and ammonia into lake Michigan?
Why aren't the environmental conscious voting in Green wise congressmen, senators, mayors, county commissioners and presidents? They are out their running for the green party. How often do the people elect them in?
All of that reasoning aside ask yourself this.
If Ron Paul was going to make it EASIER, for industry to pollute our bodies and the planet for profit, why are they not supporting him through endorsements and PAC donations to his campaign?
(Even if they wanted to help fund his campaign he is refusing to accept special interest donations) They can still endorse his candidacy and they are not.
They know he spells death for them.
This includes the polluting of our bodies by Big pharma. The FDA started off with merit when Nader ran it. Now, even they sold out health out. The government run FDA is close to keeping all natural preventive remedies and cures from out of the country and health food stores. Pelosi was just pushing another bill to help move that one along.
How does the department that is suppose to be protecting our health approve and encourage crap like fluoride ( toxicity level between that of lead and arsenic into our mouth cleaning products and WATER SUPPLY?)
I'll tell you how that got started. The phosphate mines had no where to dump or treat there toxic waste ( fluoride being one of them) they worked it out with the government to use our livers and kidneys as filters for collecting the toxic waste.
Paul would stop forcing us to have to pay to support the FDA. That how it is with most industry waste. The plan is to just dump it all in the waters, make some of it appear even beneficial, and let our bodies filter the crap all the while making us sick, and getting us dependent on pharmaceutical drugs.
I'm a green conscious person, working to make positive change where I can in my own life and home who keeps up more then most on what is polluting our bodies and the planet. Ron Paul is the DREAM choice for me.
With him in office, that still means, we have to start taking responsibility for ourselves and the planet ourselves. Start it now in your own life regardless who gets in. Spread the word on green products and companies and preventive health care.
Do your part now and forever if you care because one way or the other its the only way we are going to turn toxic environmental pollution around.
We have no other choice which is why Paul, who will expediate that process makes the most sense to vote in for me.
Besides, the more of us who get proactive the cheaper alternative products will become, the healthier we will be and we will more quickly eat away at the profits of the toxic companies giving them a slow and cancerous death for a change.
Do you even visit environmental friendly web sites? What products do you purchase? What are you doing for preventative health care in your life. Have you ever written your congressmen or senators when toxic pollution increasing, or preventative health care ban bills come up in Washington. Do you even know when they do?
Even if some other schmuck gets in, you are going to have to take action anyway if you want to see positive change in your life and the planet.
The first post is short sighted and small minded.
Why focus on better regulating industrial waste filters? Why not focus on why these business's even exist, who gives them reason to do what they do "pollution demanding consumers"-US who pay for their crap and what alternatives are we can patronize instead that can wipe them out of the market place.
Sorry this is long for a PAL post. I feel like I barely scratched the surface on this topic though.
