Ron Paul has my vote

In my opinion, he is the only candidate of genuine character and seems to stand by his convictions. I have 100% faith in him to downsize the federal government if he were elected.
Just wanted to say that he is getting my vote.

I think Dennis Kucinich shows genuine character and integrity as well. I think even Mike Huckabee has the same thing going for him, although I vehemently disagree with his positions.
I've debated whether I'm going to vote for Kucinich or Paul. I agree with Kucinich on more issues, but there's something about Ron Paul that seems like such a breath of fresh air. To me, he embodies the antithesis of the direction this country has been headed under the Bush administration. I'm a little concerned about his position on abortion(as well as things like the environment and various social services), but I don't actually expect him to get elected, so I'm not really worried about that. What's important to me is the overall vision he represents. I still may end up going with Kucinich, but I've already donated money to the Ron Paul campaign, and wish him the best of luck.

Cool.
Do you know if you have to be registered Republican in your state to vote in the primary election?
Some states have closed primaries and you have to be registered to vote with the Republican party by a certain date. Some states have already passed their dead line to register with them.
Others are open.
You can switch out of the party right after you vote if you want to.

i am registered republican. so i am all set.
i see what you are saying SS. and i agree wholeheartedly with the "breath of fresh air" sentiment. that's exactly how I feel as well. I don't agree with him on every single issue, but when was the last time we ever had a candidate that you or anyone else agreed with them on every issue? the thing about Paul is, what he says is what he means, and there isn't any double talking going on. i respect that and i think it's what america needs.

ya, awesome. trade drugs for votes, because that's the kind of PR Paul would need in the long run, right?

EntheogenicPeace said: At least i'm thinking outside the box. At the current rate I don't believe anyone actually thinks Ron Paul is really going to even register in the final results.
That's because you have virtually no information with which you are making your judgement. Whose lens are you looking through, pray tell? What is your source of information as to what is actually happening with the primaries?
Quote:
Ron Paul might have a few more of the younger voters, but still not enough to make a dent.
More baseless conclusions from a state of not knowing. Ron Paul is hovering close to 10% in a lot of primary polls, which brings the MSM to express that he is capable, at the very least, of swaying this election with his support, and the next month will be a watershed for Ron Paul support, especially as he has now raised more money this quarter, with one month to go, than any candidate raised in the last quarter (no one else's campaign keeps a live, running total because it'd be embarassing for them ). Prominent voices in the MSM are requesting hours of talk-time with Ron Paul, and the Boston Tea Party on the 16th of December is going to be another stellar, record-setting haul of donations. The grass-roots effort is now getting its people and sending its money into New Hampshire at the strategic moments - the grass-roots movement, of course, representing a lot more money spent on his campaign than what he has officially received as donations... Not only this, but Ron Paul's blimp is said to be launched in the first half of this month, and that'll be unprecedented.
Ron Paul's supporters aren't simply "young votes". Ron Paul's typical supporter does not fit within any real demographic, beyond the fact that they are Americans who care about their freedom.
Quote:
So instead of responding simply with a cute little animation, why don't offer at least one way to motivate that group of people to vote & to vote for him?
Hey dude.... let me tell you a secret.
There is a very well-organized, active and populated, de-centralized grass-roots organization that is doing just this, as well as an official campaign that uses its nice sum of money very wisely to reach everyone. This is happening, it is there, and it is underestimated. Maybe you should start looking around to see what is going on.

I call bullshit. Please provide links to just three out of this "lot of" in support of your assertion. And no, internet polls don't count. I want real polls of registered Republican voters likely to vote in the Republican primaries.
Thank you.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson has skidded into sixth place in a new CNN/WMUR poll of likely Republican voters in New Hampshire, edged out by ex-Libertarian and anti-war congressman Ron Paul and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.
The CNN/WMUR poll was conducted by the University of New Hampshire between Wednesday and Sunday. Pollsters surveyed 404 Republican voters for the survey, which had a sampling error of 5 percentage points.
Meanwhile, the percentage of support for Paul grew from 4 percent to 8 percent, putting him fourth among the GOP contenders in the Granite State.
The Texas congressman, who once ran for president on the Libertarian Party ticket, has gained notice as the sole advocate of a U.S. withdrawal from Iraq among the GOP field — and he raised eyebrows in Washington earlier this month when supporters claimed to have raised $4.3 million in a single day of online fund-raising. The figure can't be independently confirmed until Federal Election Commission reports are filed at the end of the year.
http://www.usaelectionpolls.com/2008/candidates/Ron-Paul.html
This has him with averages of state polls for the month of November... 7% in NH, 7% in SC, 7.3% in NV...
Now, the only real room for discussion is what you would define as "hovering close to 10%", and I think that he's pushing 7.5 to 8% in some of these early primary states, after essentially doubling in two weeks time, coupled with his gains money-wise and coverage-wise towards the end of this month, not to mention the huge prospects for December, and he's pushing closer to 10% than anything.
Let's not forget that the nature of these polls kind of excludes representation of the bulk of Ron Paul's supporters that will actually vote in the primaries for him regardless...

Those numbers are just as close to 4 as they are to 10. Which is what his national numbers are. They also curiously exist only after steep one month increases in all the states mentioned. Respectively: Nevada 1.0 to 7.3 NH 4.8 to 7.0 SC 3.0 to 7.0 NH is the only one I would credit as a sign of genuine.......what? Certainly not strength. He is going nowhere.

EntheogenicPeace said: Look, I know you wanna think Ron Paul is gonna make in impact in the main election, but that just isn't going to be the case. Like I said, virtually all the people who voted for Bush or Kerry in the last election are also gonna vote for either Rudy or Hillary (assuming they get their parties nominations) in next year's elections.
So, essentially, you haven't even been paying attention to the Republican primaries, to actually know what has been happening, right?
Giuliani certainly doesn't have any kind of hold on winning these primaries. He's now facing the questioning of how he makes political decisions (his cronies getting in trouble), as well as expenses for trips to the Hamptons being picked up by the taxpayers. He has less delegates in New Hampshire than Ron Paul does. His views on foreign policy are being increasingly questioned after everyone realizes its the same view as George W. Bush has.
The truth is that most Republicans are still trying to figure out who is capable of representing them this year the most. I don't think you actually watch what is happening.
