cultivation noob here

Hey guys. I've only done shrooms twice but those times have been the most intense and valuable times of my life. I have been reading up a little about cultivation and I'm very interested in growing my own. Shrooms are kinda hard to get around where I live (southwest Michigan).

Do fish tanks work pretty good for cultivation? I have a couple empty ones just laying around and I think I'll use those. I have some bubblers so I could use that technique for humidity.

Where's a good place to buy the syringes though? And what about the actual spores? That's my only problem right now. The rest of the materials shouldn't be too hard to get.

Any tips for a first-time grower? Once I start getting some of the stuff I need from garden shops and once I start getting my fish tanks and jars ready, I'll post pics. Right now I'm just looking for basic info still.

I want my first time growing to be easy as possible. Here's a few things that I need to know more about:
-what substrate to use in the jars
-when to harvest the shrooms
-about how much an ounce of shrooms is (how many mushrooms, any pics of an ounce or anything)
-any other basic info

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance guys.

I havent grown yet, but PF-Tek is the most noob friendly grow substrate

When to harvest?
You harvest the mushrooms right when the viel starts to break

How much an ounce of shrooms is?
WHat do you mean the cost of an ounce of mushrooms?

Well it depends on if he can get his hands on a pressure cooker, which new are like 100$ i think, or you can buy them from garage sales or other places... PF lets you steam, so its more newb friendly :smile:

imo- steam sterilization isn't newb friendly at all...wally world has a small pc for 20buks i think. heard it may hold only 10psi, but an extra 20-30 mins will take care of that. anyway, a pc maybe cheaper than wasted spores in the long run.

this thread is possibly gonna get closed, maybe not but you by all means should not be talking about selling and or making money off these mushrooms.. This is most often frowned upon around here.

I just watched those videos and they were VERY helpful. Thanks for posting them.

Just one more question for now though...while the shrooms are growing, what kind of lighting do they need?

Yep. and you harvest before the gills are shown. Some people let them open up but it doesnt matter.
