First off , I wouldn't say h/poo IS the best substrate . Correctly answer this question before preceding onto what the best spawn material is ,lol .

For most peeps , the preferred spawn material is either Rye or WBS .

it's obvious hpoo is the preferred bulk substrate.
wbs or rye is preferred spawn medium.
I prefer rye.

i lot of people have had alot of successful grows with coir also because poo is not that readily availible to everyone.

and look at some of hippiechicks old threads. she knows how to grow. so her advice is as good as anyones.

oh god please, you cannot put coir in the same class as horse poo, that's like taking a baseball bat to a soccer field, comparing a Yugo to a freekin Saleen.

coir is useless in mycology IME/IMO/IRL

ive played baseball in a soccer field. and any make or model of a car can be mad into a saleen. you should take some comparison tips from some of RR's posts cuz yours are no good.

i didnt say coir was the best, but yes you can put it in the same class. so all of these people haveing amazing flushes with coir must of accidentially put poo in as a bulk or what?

whatever dude then this needs to stop being shroomery, and be the "RogerRabbittry" if you want RR's opinion ask him, NOT THE SHROOMERY COMMUNITY ok thankS?

coir is not in the same class as horsepoo, and it is nothing i would ever consider as a bulk substrate. have fun with your coir shrooms, and their wonder.

I simply stated coir is useless in my experience, in my opinion, in real life. Horse poOpies for the win yo!

you make no sense when you say this, i don't need RR's tips on comparing what I may or may not like, i can make my own decisions, and when did i ever make any "comparison tips" for you to make a judgement weather they r good or bad? other then the fact i say coir is useless.

Coir is very close in performance to horse manure. Cow manure can perform nearly as well too, but will benefit from a bit of coffee grinds and some loosening up with vermiculite. As I've said hundreds of times, a combination of substrate ingredients will give better performance than any one by itself. That means, you'll get more bang by mixing cow, horse, and a bit of chicken manure with coir, coffee grinds, compost and straw.

Horse manure is a preferred substrate because its texture is easy for the mycelium to penetrate, and works fine by itself, as do any of the bulk substrate ingredients listed above. Horse manure edges them out a bit in my opinion, but coir runs a close second.

To answer the original question, my preferred spawn material hands down over all the others is organic rye berries. Rye grass seed would be second, with wbs coming in third.

i wasnt talking about what you thought about coir. sorry if you misunderstood that. in reference to "bringing a baseball bat to a soccer field" and "comparing a yugo to a saleen" im not trying to argue with ya bro just stating that people have had really sucsessful grows with coir. and that was all i said in my first post in this thread.

You are bein so friggin ignorant it's ridiculous. You're like those bible thumpin christians who refuse to believe anything no matter if its the truth / fact.

Coir is a great material and has MANY uses in mycology. Too bad I just rated someone, cuz id tell you to quit postin outta yer ass too...

Also, I would go as far to say that RR is one of the main backbones of this community, and it would be lost w/ out him. Take heed from any of his advice, HE KNOWS HIS SHIT!!

And he is correct in saying that, a mix of substrates is better than one alone.

If you're using H/poo + cow poo, chicken poo, compost and straw - then you've got a strong mix but you can't contribute it all to H/poo.

Also, again, coir is a great substrate and there should be no debating that..

He would say - any amount you have on hand of each. Besides chicken manure, I believe, that needs to be used in smaller amounts.

Everybody chill out.

Don't use chcken manure at over 5% of the total. The other ingredients, since they can each be used full strength by themselves can be mixed in whatever portions toot your whistle.
