That is an amazing amount of fire fang,I haven't used poo all that often but when I did it never had that much
I swear I'm not trying to hijack your thread but since we are on the subject of fire fang its still on topic.
Does anyone know where it can be ordered from online, seems like it would make a nice big difference if you could consistently get it and add it too bulk substrates

good point. i wonder if take a piece like that, grate it into a bag-full of the stuff that i commonly find, moisten it, and leave for a few weeks... the "fire fang" would spread throughout the whole bag. like a yeast or yoghurt starter. keep some back from each batch to start your next bag of super sub.
i'll look out for some and try it. get back to you on it blut.

I keep my dried aged horse poo in large garbage cans(many)...
I start collecting large ammounts during the last parts of summer.
and it lasts me all winter long and into spring.
during the spring and early summer I collect dried horse poo from the pasture and use it as needed.
if the horse poo isn't aged properly...
I lay it out on large tarps and let the sun dry it out before using it or storing it.

Thank you ... I'll sun dry and store. i am getting horse poop. i was just wondering if this is fact or fiction that cow poop is not any good because of additives placed in there food to prevent mushies from growing. a friend at work told me that..??

I'd probably start to look for diamonds, gold coins, and treasure maps in hpoo. You never know what those crazy things might eat.
But on a serious note, generally the better hpoo it is the less smell it has. Don't forget to pasturize it.

Thermophilic fungi and actinomycetes (firefang); http://mushroomspawn.cas.psu.edu/PhaseII.htm
Besides the basic C/N nutrients. Firefang contains OPTIMAL trace elements; like chitin, vitamins, carbohydrates, lipids & protein that mycelium LOVES.......
In effect FIREFANG is like tender meat in a stew. Or, good frosting on a cake. It adds things mushrooms THRIVE on. [/url Optimal manure based compost showing large amounts of FIREFANG flecking

Depends. A friend who used to go hunting a lot in FL told me some farmers have started that in recent years, with the resurging popularity of shrooms, in order to keep high school kids off their fields. I strongly doubt all ranchers do it, simply because it's an extra bit of effort, and because cubes don't grow in every part of the country, so it would be an unnecessary measure in most of the North.

in Kansas allot of the farmers do it, not to keep kids from getting the mushrooms, but to keep them from tearing up their property looking for them..... its a shame we cant be more adult like and leave things undisturbed.
and i would also like to know if you could get firefang to spread through a bag of hp, and if you can buy it online... just out of complete curiosity. i don't actually grow i am just a wonderer.

I personally have never seen it for sale anywhere but I don't know why not I cant say that I ever rely tried to track it down though either, keep looking and maybe you can track some down and let us know where you ordered it from,I'm sure they has to be a way to make it reproduce once you have some on hand so even if you couldn't order it,once you have it there has to be a way to culture more of it
