Top Democrat Speaks of Impeaching Bush

US Congressman and chair of the House Subcommittee
on Defence, John Murtha, has spoken of the possibility
of impeaching President Bush if a compromise cannot
be reached on the continued US military presence
in Iraq.
"There's three ways or four ways to influence a president.
One is popular opinion, the election, third is impeachment
and fourth is, and fourth is the purse," Murtha told CBS's
Meet the Nation.
When pressed he would only say, "What I'm saying, there's
four ways to influence a president... And one of them's impeachment." Bush has long been under fire from critics
who claim he manipulated intelligence before the invasion
of Iraq.

It's a nice idea and all, but nothing will change. The only difference is that Cheney will have to abandon his behind the scenes manipulation of the system and move out front. The same idiots and criminals will be in charge, just this time without their little puppet show.

Stupid me... I thought impeachment was to be used when an elected official breaks their oath of office.  I never realized that impeachment was a tool to be used to influence elected officials.  The police state has reached the police.  :rolleyes:

Of course, the impeachment wont go far, and they know that or it would have already been done. However, it will waste a ton of taxpayer money.

Bush and Cheney are 2 heads of the same serpent. They're impeachment trials would have to be at the same time. Not that it's going to happen though. The top dems are hardly any better than bush, as I speak them weak pussies are talking about a "compromise" on the war funding bill. Benchmarks are a total load of crap, more so than even impeachment talk.

They should simply let the war funding bill drop and when the proverbial shit hits the fan point to Bush's veto as the cause of the problem.

I'm not claiming that I agree with the spin. Rather, I am trying to show that they can spin it into their favor regardless of what Bush does.

I'm not claiming that I agree with the spin. Rather, I am trying to show that they can spin it into their favor regardless of what Bush does.


It's sick the way that shit ends up getting played out. It's almost like watching a bunch of 13 years olds duke it out in who is more cool. I agree with you that they don't want the war to end until the election, but I don't even see it ending there. One of the top candidates for the democrats, Hillary Clinton, is already beating the war drum for Iran. Didn't we already learn our mistake with Iraq? IMO, the US is one of the biggest causes of instability in that region. Sure, there are other underlying causes, but we are the match that is setting the shit to fire. It doesn't matter who gets elected, whether democrat or republican, we are still going to have the same agenda continue on.

IMO, it just continues to show that there is no real control amongst the people of the US, but more from the corporations who are making $$$. War is nothing more than profit to someone. While we continue to have this attitude or lack of caring, we will always have a war of some sort, whether it's a war on terrorism or drugs or cancer or HIV. None of them will ever be won because too many jobs exist as a direct result of lies.
