Judgment

As a person who has adopted a highly judgmental view of other humans as a matter of assumption I have come to a conclusion. I am starting to feel that when one renders moral judgments against an individual, organization, government, etc... one merely damages one's own position in regards to that particular issue. For instance, if one seeks agreement among other humans then to judge them as incorrect, immoral, wrong, stupid, or deluded merely creates a defensive position in the individual(s) involved. All people have reasons for being the way they are. If one refuses to use empathy and compassion to understand the views of others...no matter how extreme...then one is merely engaging in alienating behavior that runs counter to their needs. No matter how wrong or deluded others seem they are merely responding to their perceived needs in the way that they were programmed. If one begins to understand the programming that others engage in and empathize with it, then the first step has been made in modifying that programming. I am seeking to focus my attention on results, not on right or wrong/moral or immoral. I feel that this is a much more efficient use of attention. I know that many will se this as a no-brainer, but to me this is an epiphany...but I am rather dense at times.

I feel that compassion is the key to every thing that might seem "unbreakable" on the first view.
When one becomes aware that he/she can do so by just giving things some time to follow their natural course, one is starting to ask himself, how did I not see that?
But we should always keep in mind that judgmental persons are on their way to a natural flow and have a little patience :wink:

How could I be then be able to make the distinction between being judgmental or not?
You have to know both sides to tell which is which :wink:

Note: My post was not a moral judgment against judgments, but was based purely in practical terms. Laying moral value on it would be a judgment :smile:

Drive all blames into one.

If something is wrong in the world you are the only one to blame.

Things only exist in relation to you. So it takes you to make something bad or good. It's all your responsibility.

If you are enlightened there is nothing wrong in the world.

Then again... wasn't Buddha enlightened? And didn't he dedicate the remainder of his life after that point to helping others? This suggests (to me) one of two things...

a.) he was not enlightened.

b.) being enlightened does not mean seeing no wrong in the world.

Helping others does not imply a wrong condition in their being. I will help my son learn to play basketball though it is not wrong for him not to know how, or to have no desire to learn.

My argument would be that people seem to have this impression that having achieved enlightenment (whatever that is) there's nothing left to do except lie around and bask in the prettiness of it all.  However, when you examine the lives of those who were reputed to be enlightened, that's not how they lived out the remainder of their days.  More often, they dedicated their lives to helping others in some manner.  Would they have done so if they saw perfection in all things?

No I use empathy and conpassion amongst other feelings that contradict them and so making it a very complex of alienating from adapting especially when you cant carry on a conversation.
