Ok, we're hearing a lot of good stuff about DMT recently.
A lot of breakthrough talk.

Sounds a little scary, but only from the mind perspective.

I'd like to hear the worst of the worst. Share your horror stories. What can possibly be the worst thing that can happen.

(Ya'll gotta give me something I can tell the wife. She looked at me funny when I told her about my interest in DMT, and she thinks I'm nuts. I want to tell her what the worst case is, and you are the best source. Seriously, she puts faith in you guys.)

From what it sounds like to me, there are few horror stories, at least compared to LSD and to a lesser extent shrooms. Much of this because it is incredibly ephemeral, and also because your brain accepts it.

Worst thing...

You are scared shitless. This can cause some lingering psycological problems, but really...ive seem people freak out a bit, and usually within an hour they are forgetting about the experience. In the most traumatic of experiences, the user usually just blocks out the memory. A DMT trip is quickly fading, and the memories go out the door quickly after the trip if you dont get them out to others or down on paper.

Physcially
-because of the intensity of the experience your blood pressure and pulse usually do rise. You are being blasted off (in almost a very literal sense) through the fabric of the universe...it can have a toll on your heart.
-anxiety is usually they only other physcial effect. Just remember, dont fight it at all, it will eventually be over if its uncomfortable.

Really, ive only had a few tough times, and those were attempts that did not lead to a breakthrough. On a breakthough, there is no good and bad, no negative or positive. Thats why I tell first timers to go all out. These little "testing the waters" hits seem to cause more panic than anything else.

I put faith in the members of the shroomery too, there are alot of people here with alot of experience that know thier shit. And theres alot of people that want to do nothing more than help others. Its a great place.

WHile I see its use, I dont see how anyone could see the overall experience of 5-meo-dmt as pleasant. Just my opinion, but i am spoiled by the use of NNDMT

As long as your in good health, of sound mind and are someplace safe, there's not much that can go terribly wrong. I wouldn't use it if you have any kind of heart condition. That's fo' sho'

The worst case scenario is coughing out a massive hit, because of the waste....physically, the worst thing that can happen is that you burn yourself with the pipe or bang your head on something. There's no going wrong with DMT.

while this is debateable...the amounts are no where near threshold psychedelic amounts.

Seretonin is produced by the brain, but too much of it and you are looking at alot of damage and death. Im certainly not saying DMT is not safe, but dont base its safety on the fact that it may be produced in the brain.

It only lasts for like 15 minutes, right?

Oh, and my wife just asked: "What am I going to see when I watch you do it?"

Well, what would others see? Would I just sit there? Would I twitch or spaz out? You don't puke, right? Do I have to remember how to breathe?

My worst case ever with DMT was in ayahuasca. I have never tripped so hard that I had difficulty crawling to the bathroom to piss.

A semi-related story

I had a girl at my house shrooming, she weighs around 100 lbs and took 3.5 grams. Her trip ended up being very uncomfortable to her because of a lot of emotional problems, and she was like a small child with a mental illness. She drank a lot of water, and as time went along she said "I have to pee", an instant later she pissed all over my friend and the air mattress I set up in my living room.

OH MY GOD! It is SO not like Datura in any way. You won't even be able to stand up if you do DMT the right way. You'll *think* you forget to breathe, but that's because time appears to stop and dissolve, so of course breathing feels like it stops. After 5 minutes, you'll be able to communicate. To her, you'll just sit there with an amazed look on your face. If you take enough, you'll look borderline-angry because there's so much going on that you get a kind of lost in it all, and your facial expressions aren't even connected your emotions anymore. It'll be great...just remind her not to interfere for at least a few minutes after your hit. Not because it'll make the trip bad or anything, but because you won't be able to understand or respond if you did it right. Good luck, man!

Someone else descibed it well in another post...... Basically, he/she said that normal hallucinogens make your surroundings very different, and that's what you hallucinate. DMT doesn't act on your surrounding as much as it CREATES your surroundings.

Datura causes those crazy times when you actually relive memories and conversations....with DMT, there is nothing that resembles "real-life" in any way.

I've only seen one bad reaction to it, and the guy was a little drunk so I'm sure that had something to do with it.

He took the hit, breathed it out and about a minute later said something like "Thanks for the experience, but I can safely say I will never do that again". He said he saw his arm turn into a wireframe computer graphic - not an uncommon hallucination by any means. I guess it's just not for everyone.

Yeah, as far as what your wife will see; you might look incredibly happy or incredibly distressed. Either way, you're going to be sitting or laying on your back, not doing much. And it would be very unfair if your wife didn't partake in the goodness. Everyone neeeeeds to try this at least twice.

I say twice because the first time can be a little overwhelming; wait an hour or two and smoke again. It'll be like "coming home".

I just started reading Tihkal and there is a similar experience involving mouth to mouth to bring the guy back around. He opened his eyes and said something like "this is heaven". That was 5meo of course, and under dosage it said "unknown, Large amount"
