I get stuck in some nasty time loops when people play techno, it is mostly with acid tripping, but I have never tried it on shrooms. I don't mind some techno, but a lot of it is so repetitive and buzzing that you can't think and you get stuck stuck stuck stuck stuck im stuck............you get the picture...

the worst is when you have a shitty CD. The last time my CD kept skipping and doing that repeating thing that scratched CD's do and it was so annoying. Try classical. That would probably be great for trippin.------------------ Daddy, I want a golden goose egg! What do you call a fly without wings? A walk!

personally, for me it would have to be gwar, or anything thrashy death metal . Some Metal is ok, but when I'm tripping I can't stand it. Also, tool kinda fucks me up. it depends on my frame of mind. sometiems I listen and I think it is the coolest shit. But one time I was listening and I swore the guy was saying my name over and over in this satanic like voice and it scared the hell out of me.

Anything on shitty vinyl. Vinyl kicks ass, but not when it's scratched or dirty. If it starts to skip grooves or gets caught in a repeating cycle, it screws up any state that I've settled into. Good vinyl rules, though(except you have to flip records).-Good day.

I agree with neverwhere on Tool while tripping. They're definetly my favorite band, but on occasion the music is just a little too trippy.Dave Matthew's Band is annoying while tripping. A lot of one of the rhythm guitar tracks is a couple of notes repeated ad nauseum, which becomes very annoying. Cheers, Hush.

but what about "tripping billies"? if you listen to the lyrics it is about doing many different drugs - you just have to know the terms. "dragons were smoked" = smoking MJ, opium, etc. "bumblebees" = amphetamines "i was soon to be crazy......" ------------------ "If you choke on water, what shall you wash it down with?" - proverb

I would have to say N02 on Phish's "The White Tape". The dialogue is great, but the constant busy signal they play in the background is enough to drive one person mad. However, on the same album, I do suggest "And so to Bed" the rest of the album, and any other Phish.

blink 182 is probably one of the worst bands i have ever heard... and it was also skipping and repeating a lot and blasted very loud. old drunken hippie losers trying to play the gutar like jimmy page also sucks whilst tripping. and just about any popular music from the 80's. yesss.... i have had some awful music experiences.what i really liked though was listening to my friends play the guitar, and they were trippin too. very nice. ------------------ ~quembel the fox~

My first acid trip we listened to Marilyn Manson. It wasn't a good trip afterwards. All the hate from his music just put us into a bad state of mind. Definitely not a fun trip CD.

I have to say i disagree with a few of the posts. I do think that Aphex Twin's come to daddy scares the shit outta me when im straight, and I got rid of my manson cds cause i could feel the negativity. Dave Matthews Band (for me) is amazing. The jams they do in concerts blow me away. Techno (specificly trance) also leaves me in awe when im tripping. As for worst music, my first shroom trip started in friends car. He likes ICP, i hate ICP and it really was no fun. Oh yeah, and tool is way to intense, i tried listening to third eye, and it was nuts.

Pearl Jam's "Do the Evolution," animated by Todd McFarlane, is probably the coolest damn music video I've ever seen. However, I would be willing to bet that watching it under the influence of any mind-altering drug would be disturbing in the extreme.

On a level 3 trip the Chemical Brothers "Whose Under the Influence?" is enough to drive you insane. Just painful it is so trippy. When the music comes to a screeching halt I swear your heart stops. Unfortunately I know this from experience

i remember once i was tripping and i walked by a hall with a party inside, and there were playing that song "i'm a barbie girl", you know that one that goes i'm a barbie girl in a barbie world by a band (i use the term loosely)'aqua' i think. anyway i always cringe at that 'song'(or so some call it) and when i was shrooming it really bugged me out, like never before, i was scared it sucked

The new album (The Fragile?) by NIN ruined my first trip for me. I was sitting alone in the dark in my dorm, listening to it cause I had just DLed it. Talk about depressing, I wished for life to end at that point.[This message has been edited by Rauche420 (edited May 26, 2000).]

Worst music for tripping that I have encountered: KORN NIN Marilyn Manson (and basically all Death Metal) They have very 'down in it' styles that can definitely rub you the wrong way while trippin. One time I was bemushroomed with several friends and a few other people in a house housesitting for the owners who were away. Someone put on Korn, and in the song, he was screaming bloody murder and crying. All of us in the room were like "Nnnooooooo! Turn it off! Help us! The pain! Turn it off pleeease!" We actually felt his pain, and it was a horrible although transient experience. Make sure you take the content of these artists' music into consideration before even playing it within earshot of trippers.

Better yet, be a really good samaritan and always have some happy uplifting/relaxing music handy. The trippers will love you for it, and you can pat yourself on the back for being a truly compassionate soul.

I agree with Vargas very much. What a lot of people might think of as normal or doesn't effect someone when they're sober, might scare the shit out of someone tripping. Stuff like constant loops in trance, or certain eerie sound effects. When you're around someone tripping, you need to think more of them, than yourself. You might get sour if a tripper wants to hear Lucy in the sky with Diamonds instead of Trent Reznors constant moans of life's pain, but being sour is like roses compared to a bad trip.------------------ Did you see that? The NERVE. He just whipped me into submission.

NIN can be very depressing, and usually isn't good for a trip, but some is. The Perfect Drug single. We're in This Together singles, and Pretty Hate Machine are pretty benign.Once you get familiar with the Fragile, you realize (at least I did) that's it's much more uplifting than the previous albums. "You and me, we're in this together now. Not a thing can stop us now, we will make it through somehow." Instead of being completely black and dispair all the way through, like the previous ones. I think this is album is about how the important things in life really come through all the shit. But point well taken by everyone, that the harsh overtones and undertones of Trent's music can get painful on a trip. -Hatta

They're coming to take me away, ha haThey're coming to take me away, ho ho he he, ha ha To the funny farm Where life is wonderful All the time Ho ho, he he, ha ha I don't remember the artist/band of the previously quoted lyrics, but about 30 or so years ago, this was a song that used to scare the shit out of me while I was a kid. Interesting enough, the flip side of the 45 rpm had the entire song recorded backwards. Now that was even scarier! I can still hear that nasally high pitched vocal track in my head to this day....aaaaaaarrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhh

I know this has been said already, but i'd have to say that one of the freakiest albums to listen to while tripping would be the fragile by NIN- It really makes me think about things which kinda freak me out a lot and listening to it brings me back to a period where i was having some problems in school and such, and with that said, it can be just downright fucking scary to listen to it while im tripping.------------------
