The new album (The Fragile?) by NIN ruined my first trip for me. I was sitting alone in the dark in my dorm, listening to it cause I had just DLed it. Talk about depressing, I wished for life to end at that point.[This message has been edited by Rauche420 (edited May 26, 2000).]

Worst music for tripping that I have encountered: KORN NIN Marilyn Manson (and basically all Death Metal) They have very 'down in it' styles that can definitely rub you the wrong way while trippin. One time I was bemushroomed with several friends and a few other people in a house housesitting for the owners who were away. Someone put on Korn, and in the song, he was screaming bloody murder and crying. All of us in the room were like "Nnnooooooo! Turn it off! Help us! The pain! Turn it off pleeease!" We actually felt his pain, and it was a horrible although transient experience. Make sure you take the content of these artists' music into consideration before even playing it within earshot of trippers.

Better yet, be a really good samaritan and always have some happy uplifting/relaxing music handy. The trippers will love you for it, and you can pat yourself on the back for being a truly compassionate soul.

I agree with Vargas very much. What a lot of people might think of as normal or doesn't effect someone when they're sober, might scare the shit out of someone tripping. Stuff like constant loops in trance, or certain eerie sound effects. When you're around someone tripping, you need to think more of them, than yourself. You might get sour if a tripper wants to hear Lucy in the sky with Diamonds instead of Trent Reznors constant moans of life's pain, but being sour is like roses compared to a bad trip.------------------ Did you see that? The NERVE. He just whipped me into submission.

NIN can be very depressing, and usually isn't good for a trip, but some is. The Perfect Drug single. We're in This Together singles, and Pretty Hate Machine are pretty benign.Once you get familiar with the Fragile, you realize (at least I did) that's it's much more uplifting than the previous albums. "You and me, we're in this together now. Not a thing can stop us now, we will make it through somehow." Instead of being completely black and dispair all the way through, like the previous ones. I think this is album is about how the important things in life really come through all the shit. But point well taken by everyone, that the harsh overtones and undertones of Trent's music can get painful on a trip. -Hatta

They're coming to take me away, ha haThey're coming to take me away, ho ho he he, ha ha To the funny farm Where life is wonderful All the time Ho ho, he he, ha ha I don't remember the artist/band of the previously quoted lyrics, but about 30 or so years ago, this was a song that used to scare the shit out of me while I was a kid. Interesting enough, the flip side of the 45 rpm had the entire song recorded backwards. Now that was even scarier! I can still hear that nasally high pitched vocal track in my head to this day....aaaaaaarrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhh

I know this has been said already, but i'd have to say that one of the freakiest albums to listen to while tripping would be the fragile by NIN- It really makes me think about things which kinda freak me out a lot and listening to it brings me back to a period where i was having some problems in school and such, and with that said, it can be just downright fucking scary to listen to it while im tripping.------------------
