the VA tech massacre ..yes..it is the conservatives' fault...

Ames takes a systematic look at the scores of rage killings in our public schools and workplaces that have taken place over the past 25 years. He claims that instead of being the work of psychopaths, they were carried out by ordinary people who had suffered repeated humiliation, bullying and inhumane conditions that find their origins in the "Reagan Revolution." Looking through a carefully researched historical lens, Ames recasts these rage killings as, essentially, failed slave rebellions.

when you put the pieces together..the inescapable conclusion is that the conservative social engineers have succeeded..beyond their wildest dreams..in creating an atomized society of socially powerless individuals...in past..these ppl would have organized themselves into unions or similar groups to address shared grievances...but when this kind of organization is no longer possible..the only options are to either accept the status quo or to go on a killing spree...in some cases..a small group may form and go on a much bigger killing spree..as witness mohammed atta &co...

and why is it all the conservatives' fault??...their record of union-busting is well-known and documented.. and they are quite proud of it...in a broader sense..george orwell perfectly explains the conservatives' interests in creating social isolation ..

We have cut the links between child and parent, and between man and man, and between man and woman. No one dares trust a wife or a child or a friend any longer. But in the future there will be no wives and no friends. Children will be taken from their mothers at birth, as one takes eggs from a hen. The sex instinct will be eradicated. Procreation will be an annual formality like the renewal of a ration card. We shall abolish the orgasm. Our neurologists are at work upon it now. There will be no loyalty, except loyalty towards the Party. There will be no love, except the love of Big Brother.

one thing that orwell was wrong about..however..is that there is in fact something called human nature that will resist this effort...but the only vehicle of resistance available is shooting rampages and/or terrorist acts..which is far from optimal and might even work to justify the states' cause...

That makes sense. I mean, a human being is just an animal after all. If you corner an animal it will lash out in an attempt to defend itself. I suppose one of the faults of our evolved consciousness is that it determines some people will their own corners a little earlier then the rest of us.

ah, but an important factor was left out - antidepressants

pretty shocking list, linking many school shootings to prescription drugs. Although I doubt the pharmaceutical companies would let this leak into the mainstream, much like you never hear of how microbiologists are always dying in strange ways.

Virginia Tech student Blake Harrison said he was on his way to class near Norris Hall when he saw chaos.

“This teacher comes flying out of Norris, he’s bleeding from his arm or his shoulder ... all these students were coming out of Norris trying to take shelter in Randolph [Hall]. All these kids were freaked out,” Harrison said.

The students and faculty were barricading themselves in their classrooms after what one person described as an Asian male in a vest opened fire.

The shooter was “wearing a vest covered in clips was just unloading on their door, going from classroom to classroom … They said it never seemed like it was going to stop and there was just blood all over,” Harrison said.

wearing a vest covered in clips..... If he just had some counseling and Prozac this may never have happened....

I think it has less to do with Ronald Reagan and more to do with a society that for some insane reason brainwashes their children into believing that they are special little angles and that life owes them whatever they want. Unfortunately, when the children leave the "perfect world nest" and have to deal with real life where they aren't special little angles that life owes whatever their desires dictate, they get upset, and in extreme cases, they lash out.

Heck... just give the guy a joint... nothing like a little cannabis to take motivation right out of mass murder.

Exactly. The parents never bring the child to interaction with the real world, and they become secluded. Then you force them into a public, formal institution like school and they aren't going to be able to deal with the interactions they are faced with.

Result: exactly. These parents need to engage their child in a lot of interactive activity with the real world when they are very young, and to be capable of supporting them as they become older and become more involved with the real world.

The cause of this tragedy can be summed up in two words: Bad Parenting. :nonono:

You know I didn't read a single report about anybody in that building coming together and standing up to try and disarm and/or kill the motherfucker before it got to 31 deaths. However I did read many reports about people cowering under their desks in fear writing text messages on their cell phones. What is wrong with people?

edit: What ever happened to "America: Land of the free, home of the brave"?

Gun violence would most certainly fall under the category of "symptom."
