also certain mods like to work from the description of the forum as their reason for erasing posts, and not from stated rules, if you think the description should be a rule, then make it a rule. Is one of my criticisms.
If you are talking about what topics belong in what forum then I think we can't make a clear rule for that. How can you clearly define what topics belong in P&S? There will always be a grey area and this is where mods have to decide. I can't think of a better way to keep to forums somewhat on-topic. I agree with you if it is something that can easily made a clear rule.

Also are admins liable to the same infraction system as mods? You forgot that one.
They sure can work around that. I don't know if they even use the same infraction system. They are gods so they can, in theory, do everything they want with your account.

the 50000 member to 50 mods/admins is one statistic, but what is the ratio of how many are in place at one single time. 50000 members aren't using the shroomery all at the same time.
Click the Who's online button and you will see that there are times when no mods are online. At the moment there are 4 mods/admins online for 125members. I'm from Holland so when it's daytime over here there are times when I'm the only mod online. Mods are also not sidewide and we only have mod powers in our specific forums. We can only act outside our own forum when it's very important(our own interpretation) and no other mods are online.

I think you all are bunch of cops, everybody got everybody's back regardless of any wrongs, LOL
I don't think this is true. Most of the time we don't publicly disagree as long as we debate things in the moderator forum, but I can assure you that we don't always agree and we will change our public opinion when needed. There is a decent amount of control of our actions, from admins and other mods.

This what I was afraid of. I think my last ban was admin sanctioned, as it didn't seem to go through the regular process, I'm starting to get it now, the sets up of the paranoia. I think my post was spurred on by this.

It means they were actively making the decision on which forum is best suited to house the discussion you are proposing. It eventually reached the location at which the discussion could most effectively be conducted - members interested in these matters find it, as well as moderators. You've got a good audience here, and since it does not create drama by complaining about a specific incident, why not give it some discussion?

If the stickied thread in Philosophy and Spirituality states "This forum is intended for open discussion on philosophical and spiritual topics", that outlines the forum's purpose. It is evident that an off-topic is moved to another forum - it is not necessary to hand down a specific rule that states "It is agansit the rules to post off-topic threads in this forum".

No matter how many times the staff says is, people just don't get it. There is no legitimate comparison towards a privately-owned forum and and a nation-state. You are privileged to be here and have no rights other than what the admins decide you have. You follow the rules and you don't get banned. That's how easy it is.

I know that. It's still an almost uncanny parallel just the same. That part, at least, is valid. Why couldn't the owners of this site choose to let us have some form of rights, since they have already called it a "community"??

That, in part at least, was done today through the multi-dimentional ignore feature upgrade...

I will leave it to them to figure out the rest!

All I did was ask if my bro was going to od, and made the most logical decision to me. because people dident feel the same way about it, they said it was a fake. i then get banned for it being a fake. I just wanted advice, and got banned for 100 days from a forum I rerely frequent.

I posted in otd, and it was moved to odd but no ban. Why 2 other forums no ban, and one mod decided to ban me. I talked with a mod in pm's about the situation, no ban help. Seems like your little saying dosent apply to everybody.

> Also are admins liable to the same infraction system as mods?

I suppose so, though it has rarely been an issue. Mods are held to higher posting standards than regular users and admins are held to even higher standards than mods.

> Why couldn't the owners of this site choose to let us have some form of rights, since they have already called it a "community"??

You might not see it, but OTD is what you are describing. There was a lot of debate years ago regarding the site, the community, and OTD style posting. Half of the admin wanted the site to be purely mushroom related and to drop most of the community forums. The other half felt that the community side of the site was beneficial, even if it does detract from the mushroom information side a bit. In the end, we decided to keep the community side of the site, which ultimately led to the creation of the pub as a 'non-hostile' OTD like area.

> I posted in otd, and it was moved to odd but no ban.

I don't know the specifics of this, especially with respect to the pub. However, an overdose thread is not appropriate for OTD and should have been posted in ODD in the first place.

As far as I can tell, without digging into the database, the post was moved from the pub to ODD and a second identical post was created by you in OTD.

ODD: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/6433541
OTD: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/6433546

> Why 2 other forums no ban, and one mod decided to ban me.

Each forum has it's own set of rules. For example, what I post in OTD can easily get me banned in PA&L.

Hmmm... reading the original post I can see why the mod's didn't believe you.

"All I did was ask if my bro was going to od"...

Of course, once the thread got moved to ODD, you will see multiple big bold red posts by a moderator that states:

Quote:
MODERATOR: CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY. DO NOT LET YOURSELF BE TAKEN FROM THE TASK AND ACT THIS VERY MINUTE. ACUTE DANGER OUTWEIGHS ANY HASSLE THAT CALLING AN AMBULANCE CAN GIVE. IF YOU THINK AN AMBULANCE WILL NOT DO, DRIVE OR TAXI HIM TO THE ER YOURSELF. BUT ACT NOW. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES LET HIM GO TO SLEEP WITHOUT MEDICAL SUPERVISION.

And your various replies as other members ask you to call for help:

Quote:
should i take him? this my brother, is this nigga gon die,no joke?

Quote:
This niggas a monster wit this shit, hes speaking when I wake him up, I done took him to the er 2 times in the past month, and damn near got arrested doing it. He should be good, I hope so. He says hes gonna shoot himself in the morning anyways, so whatever. main reason im not taking him, is im at grannys, where he stays, and shel have a heartattack if she sees this(80 years old), so ima call it a night and wing it. Thanks

I would hate to discourage people for asking for help, even if they are not going to act on it. Rather, if you are in need of help, and are being serious, then post in a mature manner.

First off i dont really post there often, I could give a fuck its the goddamn principle. 2nd off, otd is a late night forum, odd is not. At 4 in the goddamn morning, about the only forums up are the pub, and odd. I made 2 posts due to the seriousness, and I had like 15 replys saying he would be fine. I asked, because there was a chance I wasent going to take him, If i was from the getgo i wouldent have posted and i would have just tooken him.

This is fuckin bullshit, you cannot justify my banning by saying im a liar. Ive been on this site for years, And thought I used to be somewhat of a respected member. I was around when the ripper thing happened, and know the seriousness of a overdose, and of posting a fake od thread.

Why would I go to the trouble to make a fake thread, then reply to it a million times, then talk with a mod in private mesaging, Then reply the next day after it was over, then fuckin bitch about getting banned?????

If anything you can say i had a bad choice of judgement(niggas alive and well, obviously not), which is not grounds for banning. Mind you trendal banned me after it was out of his forum. Why the fuck you think your better than me? Ive done my fareshare of contribution to the goddamn forums back in the day, should be allowed to ask a legitamate question without getting banned now. The shroomery message board has gone to shit. How about this, your fuckin lying?
