straight coir monotub. (some late night mycoporn)*final update*

The spawn was actually fresh this time around. Pretty happy with the first flush.

6QT's rye spawn, 11Qt's coir(1 brick.) Substrate was about 3 inches. This bad boy colonized in 3.5 days. Half a cup of brew grade calcium carbonate thrown in with substrate. Cased /w 50/50+ First flush below. Strain was SA.



Any guesses on weight?

My guess: 10 oz dry for the first flush, 25 oz dried all told...

I'd sure like to know how many flushes you get out of this, because I'm going to try out almost this exact same thing on my next go around.  WBS spawned to coir monotub with a bit of added nitrogen thrown in the mix.

Great work. I'd say about 3-4oz dry off that flush and 3/4lb if you milk it for a while.

haha, looks just like mine, same setup except WBS with cambodians and cased with 75/25 verm coir. Looks great, im almost up to an oz dry, half way thru my first flush so you should get at least an oz, oz n half.

Definitely not 10. i forgot to post a pic /w a lighter for size.  Just one side was harvested(fruits around the one edge that had matured a bit faster.)  Was about 240 grams fresh.  I think the guess of 3-4 dry Oz's is about right.  I'll let everyone know.

Also, as far as flushes I'm hoping i get 3 or 4.  Coir is known to bust it's load in one or two flushes.  The high spawn rate should help with this. 

On the next go I'll be using terracycle liquefied worm castings to hydrate my coir.  Will probably do a grow log.

first flush total was about 1250 grams wet. about 250 of that was in aborts and underdeveloped/small fruits.

*update*  Second flush just came through.  Was about 1150 grams wet.  Less fruits but much bigger.

Can't tell any difference in potency from cased rye. Not sure what you mean by my past method? Prior to this i had done some rye casings.

I loaded my hydrated coir into quart mason jars. then put them in a pan. turned the stove on high until the water temp reached about 140. Turned the stove down to low and let em sit for about 2 hours. Also checked them several times during to make sure they were staying under 170. Then i speed cool them, by putting them into the sink with hot water first, then after a bit into cool water. Also you need a plate with some canned food or something on top to keep the jars from wanting to float.

Closer to 8.5 oz dry.
