ID HELP - golf course

SWIM found some mushrooms growing on a golf course. They are smallish and brown, i have attached some photos. There about an inch in diameter. SWIM would like to know if they are psychadelic. SWIM will not eat them without knowing what they are because of the dangers. I don't know a lot of shrooms so any ids would be helpful. SWIM found them in georgia.

we need a spore print and you need to read the sticky thread on posting id requests. if you can't satisfy all the info, do the best you can. if you don't try, we can't help.

from your pics, they could be any number of species within several genera.

With the high def photos and info provided I have made a 100% ID.  they are Littlus Brownia Mushroomum (LBM)

treo1000, Take a look at sample post.  We don't want you to eat anything that we are not 100% sure of.  LBM's (Little brown mushrooms) are very hard to id without good Pic/ info. don't give up. keep hunting or tell SWIM too, :thumbup: and tell SWIM to invest in a book or two.

Ahahahahaha!!!! I do my best to avoid the lingo around those I might have to explain. Een once they get it, they give you that weird look...
Like, once I had to explain WTF to my step father whose initials are W. T. F.

However, I was wondering what SWIM meant as well, but didn't care enough to ask.... I guess it just didn't seem important, I figured it must be lingo implying someone else, since it is so widely referred to- even on non mushroom related sites.

looks like psathyrella velutina to me, doesnt this species have a new name now.

Psathyralla stipes tend to be very straight and thin. His are thck and look to be very solid and curved.

do they look like anything poisenous? My friend wants to try them but, has read about people dying from eating random musrooms they picked.Will these make him trip? I looked up psathyrella velutina and they aren't that cone-shaped, not that round. Do you think these are safe to try?

While they are usually thin, velutina has a stipe that is much more substantial than the average Psathyrella stem. These look a lot like Lacrymaria (psathyrella) velutina. They can look very different from any pictures you look up. They are an incredibly variable species. I've already bet psiclops my right nut on a L. velutina ID earlier today, I guess I'll put lefty up on this one. In any case, they do not look like a psychoactive species. SWIM should not eat these unless he likes playing Russian Roullette. Eating these would be incredibly stupid.
