Sporeworks Growbags...

I recently bought 4 grow bags from sporeworks, along with a TC syringe. The spores arrived about a week after the bags, but I didn't mind because they threw in a Second syringe for free!!! so I figured what the heck, and injected each bag with 5CCs. for the first few days, I didn't see any contams, but i didn't see any mycelium growth either. After about a week, one of the bags started to get a greenish moldy looking coloration on the surface area of the substrate, and still no mycelium. What happened? It got up around 90 degrees the other day, but the bags were in a dark closet...is thermal death a possible explanation? was 5CCs too much? (2-3 was the what it says on the sporeworks site) *sigh*

Im no expert, But Im thinking maybe you added to much moisture to the mix. Better luck next time.

Or maybe there was a sterility problem. Even with the grow bags you have to be careful or you will introduce cantams...

I have experimented with a bunch of bags and yes I can tell you 5cc was way to much. Compiler has his moisture content down to a science. I have found that bags with 2.5cc work better than any other amounts. I dont know if you got wet spot or not. Workman and psilocyber can diagnos it for you exact, but my research says 5cc is the problem.

Since the PF tek reccomends 40-45 ccs of water, and maximum fruiting is 60 ccs. That's a tolerance of 20 ccs. Now gvien we're talking about bags. But there's way more than one jar of substrate in a bag. So I can't see how 2 ccs of spore solution should make much difference, other than the fact that it should colonize a little faster. I think you should be looking in other directions, dirty needle, accidently letting a little air suck in the bag, bad luck, ect. Were the the bag with the self healing needle port in them? I haven't seen em yet so I don't know the game plan there. Just my 2 ccs on the matter.

They were the bags with the self healing injection sites. I didn't flame sterilize the needle, but I did wipe both it and the injection site with rubbing alcohol, and let it dry before injecting.
