>We have moved the injection disc to substrate level.
Why was the injectiondisc so high on the previous modell?

The injector disk was placed high on the bag because that is how the first prototypes from our manufacturer were made. It didn't seem to make a difference at the time so it was left where it was. After a few incidents of the syringe needle going through the injection disk and out the other side of the bag (bad), it was decided that the disk should be lower.

Now I have to say, that is a great idea, and a large step up fromt the previous model. This is now a product all your own. No doubt someone will copy it, but would be a blatent attempt.
1 question. When the bag inflates, it will inflate with CO2 correct, through the mycelium respiration? How will this affect the fruiting of the mushrooms if they are exposed to a solely CO2 environment.

The bag will inflate with CO2 and metabolic gases but those will slowly diffuse out of the bag through the filter patch. Once the substrate is completely colonized, CO2 production diminishes and diffusion reduces the level to within fruiting parameters. It isn't the perfect growing environment, but since it is completely sterile and sealed, nothing bad (contamination-wise) can happen while you wait for the fruits to first form. Excessive CO2 levels tend to elongate stems and reduced cap size. Although we haven't directly measured CO2 levels in the bags, mushrooms grown in this manner don't seem to be suffering as much as you might expect.

I was just looking on the sporeworks site when I saw these self-healing injector site myco bags. These look very interesting but I have a few newbie questions as I have never really worked with bulk substrates before.
What are some good substrates to use in these myco bags? Can you give me some recipes for a good substrate mix? Would you want a casing-type mix or what, can you fill the bag with vermiculite and BRF like a pf jar and inoculate it?
Would you inoculate these bags with a normal spore syringe, or do you need some kind of liquid mycelium culture to inoculate?
