My Four Month Challenge

So I've decided to go into the Army Infantry. My training will consist of 9 weeks in basic training and 13 weeks of specific Infantry training. I've let myself go a little bit physically but I've got four months to get my shit in shape.
The Army PFT consists of three events, pushups, situps and a two mile timed run. The scores are as follows;
For Pushups 100 Points - Top Score - 75 Pushups 80 Points - Average 58 Pushups 60 Points - Below Average, lowest passing score - 40 pushups
For Situps 100 Points - Top Score - 80 situps 80 Points - Average - 65 situps 60 points - Below Average, lowest passing score - 50 situps
2 Mile Run 100 Points - Top Score - 13m 0s 80 Points - Average - 14m 48s 60 Points - Below Average, lowest passing score - 16m 36s
A 180 is required to pass, 60 points minimum in each category. To complete the Infantry course, I'll also have to complete the confidence and the obstacle course, and do the "Eagle Run", a 4 mile, 36 minute run.
Heres the plan!
Starting monday, I'll take the physical fitness test every ten days to measure my performance. I won't even sign the papers until I can score at least a 250 on the PFT, I figure if I go into boot camp with a 250 on the PFT, I Should be acing it when I get out, max'ing it (Plus!) out of Infantry school and then I'll be ready for Airborne/ Ranger school, two VERY difficult schools.
My schedule
Day 1) Pushing muscles of the upper body, at the gym. I go to a FANTASTIC gym and my "Coach" has years of weightlifting experience. A full workout, a good strong workout. Three mile run @ 8m30s/mile pace. Ab flexibility program (high rep, no resistance situps)
Day 2) Pulling muscles of the upper body, same gym. Ab flexibility program (high rep, no resistance situps)
Day 3) Legs and Core muscles - All my leg workouts, ab training with weights. When I train my abs this day, I'm going to do it like regular muscle training. 5-8 reps, increasing weight each set, 3-4 sets. I'll do 3-4 different exercizes to really destroy the abs and get them built up. Same for the lower back muscles. Six mile march with 35lb backpack, MAX time 1h30m (Thats a four mile an hour pace)
Day 4) Same as day one, but no ab workout
Day 5) Same as day two
That will be my monday-friday workout plan. On the weekends I'll go for long hikes, 10-15m/day, or do other outdoor-y activities like canoeing, kayaking, whatever.
I'll post my results some, maybe.
Oh, i'm also going to be doing lots of track training, I'm just not sure what, Ill post that as it comes to me .

do they train you to be able to pass that test?
I could like 1 pushup and 25 situps and run about 1/10th a mile.
maybe 1/4th a mile.

Yes, they train you. However, the guys in bootcamp that can barely pass the PFT get more, shall we say, "attention" from the Drill Sergeants. I'll be doing my initial PFT this monday, recording the scores, and posting them here.

Good luck on Ranger school because it is very hard. People who do it usually lose a considerable amount of weight because it breaks you down with no chance to recover.
My suggestion for you is to keep things in perspective. Your mind is the most important thing, even in a physical challenge. Remember what your goals are and realize that it's going to take consistant effort over time to accomplish them. Listen to your body and try to understand when you should rest. Sometimes, a day of rest with some minor activities like a walk will do more for you than exercise.

Reply to topic:
My bootcamp experience included the horizontal pullup ladder bars before meals and that was the toughest part for this 150lb equivalent of a 90lb weakling.

Update: 7/16 - Went for a 6 mi hike on Saturday and a 3mi hike on Sunday. I'm doing my initial PFT tomorrow so I didn't want to wear myself out. Lots of mountains and rock climbing, 30lb pack. Tomorrow I'll do my PFT and post the results.

Some info about my diet:
I'll edit this tomorrow and get more info up about it, but basically I'm cutting out..
Alcohol, beer definatly, some mixed drinks very infrequently, only on the weekend, only straight liquor and only if I'm out camping or something.
REFINED SUGARS - ALL OF THEM! No more sugar for me. No more "high fructose corn syrup" either.
DRUGS - No caffeine, no reefer, no drugs of any sort. I'm making an exception to this, that it won't start until my current bag of pot is depleted, no need in wasting perfectly good pot. I'm also writing a personal chit excusing me from this abstinance at OzzFest.
More to come.
